An interesting story, well-known to us Aussies. We don't have kangaroos in the suburbs down here, but they are in nearby bushland, which is okay. Well written (except I don't think the animals names need capitalisation). I'm glad your joey survived. (I have a slightly similar story about a koala ready to publish, but I'll wait a while now). Love the photo. Best wishes for the contest!

I love watching and reading about your down under animals. I watched
a documentry on a momma roo and how they nurse their youg I learned they have two special teets one for when they are first born and another for when they get bigger. They stay in her pouch for over a year with their legs hanging out.I love watching the kolas. I CRIED WHENTHEY GOT BURNED BYTHE FIRE.

This is an interesting introduction to your Australian wildlife. It is a good idea to cull the herd as you do and make use of the meat. In the USA our main large roadkill is whitetail deer, which, if gotten to quickly enough, is donated as ground meat to the poor. You used the starting sentence very effectively.
