I'm glad this tiny joey got a chance at life thanks to you stopping K. Though I think it is much easier for a car driver to stop than a truck or semi to pull up quickly. Well written story of the dangers our wildlife face, and us if we are in their way. Good luck in the contest. Cheers
Valda

Hi Kace, I sorry sweetie pie...I am out if sixes...******...

that is so sad some truck driver hit her and didn't
even stop to see if she was ok...jerk...

as for eating them...you have as good of chance of me eating
a Kangaroo...as you do me eating a deer...NOT going to
happen...same as a Rabbit...

your story broke my heart my wonderful friend...but it's very well told...and very well written...perfect picture...

we have the same problem here with the deer...I live in a corn belt...and when the grass gets high...you can't always see them coming out of the fields...but most people are careful...
I love your story told you...love you...Linda xxoo

Hello Gert, Thanks for reading my friend. Yes, tiny and blind, if he misses the trail she licks for him - game over. K xx

A great story of survival, Aussie, and the perfect picture. You have included a good deal of interesting information which I also enjoyed.
Yes, our wildlife is a natural, national treasure - sometimes a problem and not always appreciated. Thank you for drawing attention to this situation.

What a kind deed and lucky for that baby Joey, Aussie. We have plenty of roadkill here in upstate NY, but it's not relatable to me to think of a kangaroo as roadkill, but I know it happens. This is a wonderful story. I wish you much success with the contest, my friend

I had heard that kangaroos could be aggressive. It sounds like they are over populated in your country. I was unaware of the two variety of kangaroos, I think I have only seen the grey ones in zoos here. Excellent story for the contest.

Ooh, the big red one is fearless. In the mating season they fight to the death. You can pat the greys in wildlife centres. Thanks for reading my friend. When are you going to write something? :-) XX

Your contest entry read well, Aussie. I'm thrilled the
little joey was alive and someone made the effort to
rescues it. I know some crazed drivers go out of their
way to hit critters in the road. You did a great job with
your entry,
Best wishes, Jan

Thanks so much Jan. Tourists think roos are cute and cuddly. Rather nurse a Koala. Yes, I know some fools try to hit wildlife. How cruel, I don't understand their actions. Love, Kay xx

This was very interesting, Kay. I just don't understand how people can be so carefree about any living thing. Well with the exception of spiders, snakes, houseflies, ticks, yah-ta- du, yah-ta-du. I could go on and on. I should be ashamed. LOL
(I steer clear of them if I can. Wasn't it dangerous to approach an injured Kangaroo? Well done, Dear. Nancy:) Nancy:)

Don't be ashamed Nancy. I feel the same way about the creepy-crawlies. I hate snakes! Oz has the most venomous snakes in the world. No, not dangerous to approach and injured kangaroo - she was dead, only joey was alive.
    Much love, K xx

Aussie,

This is a nice original story for the contest, and very educational. You emphasized the value of saving one life amog many lost. We always have this tug-of-war with wildlife. Too few and we panic, too many and we panic. Over here we have a black bear problem in some areas, whitetail deer, bobcats, coyotes and wolves in others. A few notes follow.

Sue

Little Surviver -- in U.S. it is survivor-- don't know about "British"

I saw the Kangaroo hop on to the road. -- onto?

Missing paragraph line space:
We took the little boy home after cutting his umbilical cord. Our Wildlife Rangers have the right milk formula to raise these orphans and so we handed him over.
So much carnage on the roads e.g. Koala crossing plus turtles, kangaroo, wallaby, wombat and so on. Thank goodness for the rangers. When we had bad fires the rangers set up a triage to treat the burnt animals.

Tanka you for reading and editing. Yes, our English is different because the root is French. And (Hee, Hee) you write the date back the front! Like today is the 12/5/22 not the 5/12/22. Thanks for reading and trying to edit. Bless you, K xx
