Your words meant the most to me. It has many interpretations. One in the present washing away pain. It can also refer to time that eventually nothing matters. Whichever way you take it, it is a great poem.

Footprints in the sand at the beach are a great analogy for a relationship, a memory, slowly washing away over time. These short poems are really hard to write (I think), but you've said it all with these 8 words and the picture reminds us of what happens to those physical footprints.
