I truly enjoyed this story. Having heard radio transcripts from InterSanctum so I can imagine a 7-year-old seeking comfort next to your sister.
I found that in sharing a room with my two sisters, it was the oldest who made the rules.
Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes,
Mary

    Absolutely, it was always the oldest who made the rules!!! Now that I'm the oldest, I don't find it to be that much fun -- i.e. making the rules. lol. thanks for reading and commenting. ann

Great story of conspiratorial, late-night conversation between sisters. I don't remember these radio shows, but obviously, you girls had a blast -- until someone got expelled from the conspiracy!

Just one suggestion:

"No, please. I'll be still"
-->
"No, please. I'll be still."

I love your picture, especially your sweet little smile in it.

This is funny. The Inner Sanction wouldn't have been my choice either. However I didn't get to listen at the radio at night. We didn't get good reception at anyway, but Dad wanted the lights out and everything off shortly after dark.

Those of us with bad reception and inexpensive radios felt your pain. Hell, In my office at work, my little radio still gets disrupted if I move in my chair. Good story, that many can relate too.

notes:

"No, please. I'll be {still"}

- still."

    Thanks for reading and commenting. I will make the correction immediately. The radio sort of went the way of 8-track -- i.e. the thing to have one day and the next morning TV replaced it! I appreciate your time in reviewing my post. ann

Your contest entry reads well, Ann. I enjoyed its presentation--
the image is perfect, the bold font works, and the details of the
story put readers right there wondering if you got to stay and
listen or not.
Best wishes in the contest, Jan

I really liked this piece. I am a twin. My sisters name is also, Hannah. Though she is only 4 minutes older than me and not years, I relate to this and makes me chuckle. We both had our own twin beds in the room next to each other with an object seperating us fpr 18 years!
