How lovely that your daughter-in-law, Mel, inspired this poem in recognition of her birthday and May Day combined. Sending best wishes to the birthday girl and the poet.

May Day always reminds me of children dancing around a MayPole and laughing, filled with happiness. Your poem speaks of Mel in the exact same way...a person filled with goodness and lots of smiles. A beautiful tribute.
Smiles, Carol

Happy Birthday Mel May Day!

And what better May Day Happy Birthday than a wonderful, poetic tribute such as this?
That's cheered me right up, Debi. It's a very grey day here.
Well done x

This is a warm and friendly family poem with a good rhyme scheme which helps engage the reader. I enjoyed the idea of a smile scaring away winter and welcoming in spring.

What a wonderful tribute to your daughter! (I love how you crossed out in-law). Well done, my friend.

Happy Birthday Mel! I hope it is a good one full of fun, family, and love.

Unique to wrap this into the May Day prompt Debi. Creative!

Debi, this is a well-worded and loving birthday wish. The receiver must be grateful and honored for such a birthday wish. By the way,
where have you been? Somehow, you jumped off my radar. Willie

Gail, you are a doll for catching that typo. I am surprised that happened as I am usually more careful, but auto correct sometimes puts it in and I don't catch it.

What a lovely pic, Debi! Mel looks a delightful young woman and I'm sure she'll love this fine tribute to her on her birthday, one that isn't easy to forget. I'm feeling like winter's prey here too. I could either do with some spring sunshine or Mel's smile to keep me warm!:)) Take care Debbie
