The title and setting is foreshadowing that we are about to read a cautionary tale. Oooof. This sounds like a hard job to call it quits. However, the journey to get to that point might surely change a person's view of their life. Interesting.

Thanks for the review, Liz. This was inspired by the death of Guy Waterman.

OH! Pure dismay! What a powerful and amazingly complete fifty-word story. I'm not sure that's the way anyone would really want to go once the shivers began, but your protagonist is convincing!

Ah, so this person hiked up a mountain to commit suicide and is wondering where to leave the note. Well, I didn't that coming. I guess the title should have given me a clue.

Good luck in the contest.

This fifty-word story, The Note, has the required word count and captures what would probably be the last thirty minutes of the climber's life.

Does it really matter where the note is put? Who in their right mind would climb a mountain and commit suicide with a note beside them. The puma or the bear will simply gnaw their flesh and the wolves and vultures will pick the bones clean.

Thanks for the review, Tom. This really happened. It is chronicled in the book "Good Morning Midnight."

This is clever, because you have allowed the reader to deduce the situation and the outcome. It's nice to think, not be told! Your writing style is clear and direct, and the accompanying image is a good choice. Best wishes for your entry.

That you can put a story with such deep hopelessness into 50 words says a lot about your abilities. It is a good story. Best of luck with the contest!

Why doesn't he put on his parka and walk to a surrounding where there are people? He wants to be alone so he can perhaps gain his angel wings. How tragic.

Oh dear, not a pleasant way to die and I doubt there are many who decide to bow out this way. I have been on the side of mountains that are this remote and it is rather scary, love Dolly x

Hello Author,
This is a bit of a depressing story. I suppose that hypothermia wouldn't be the worst way to die. I understand you just kind of go to sleep, although I don't know how anyone living would know that. As far as finding the note, if the person wanted someone to know what happened, I doubt that the mountain top would be the place to leave it. Well done on your story.
Good luck in the contest.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom
