"I've" is an exceptional poem, even though I could hear more rhythmically functional choices in a few spots. In this poem by Willie P. Smith, pairs of odd-numbered lines rhyme and prevent the rhyme from becoming overbearing like what happens in limericks. By the way, neither Walt Whitman nor Emily Dickinson was a rhymer. Other great poets, like Hart Crane, rhyme or not as it suits them. I don't think Homer was a rhymer in the archaic Greek he used. Of course, stories can be told in poetry, so the distinction is maybe moot, you old smilin coot. Teasing, of course. Be well, Frank

If this is the life you have experienced, then I salute you get up and go.
I, too have done all that you said, though I did not enjoy my own cooking over a camp fire, unless it was fresh fish from a stream. NIce piece of literature here my friend.

Great rhyming and poem flows smoothly. Sounds like you have had a busy life and done a lot of things that you desired. I like your closing, "I have to admit I've had a wonderful life." Very well done on this.

Hello Willie P. Smith,
It's a nice piece poetry having lucid as well as perfectly matching the theme phraseology, smooth flow throughout from the beginning to the end with lovely rhyming scheme, and beautifully depicting 'your life in parts!'
The last stanza is particularly noteworthy.

If you don't mind, please see:
"I've swam..." Is it right? Or It should have been "I've swum..."

I thought it an odd title until I read the poem, it's perfect. Nice rhyming and it certainly tells us the story of a rich, well lived life, including a beautiful wife.

This is such an uplifting poem Willie, well rhymed and the sentiment is touching. You give thanks to your life here as you are grateful for the experience. All the things you have loved doing in one poem, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

'I've', is an extremely well-written and deftly descriptive piece. Penned with craft and skill. This talented poet's work was a privilege to both read and review. I look forward to seeing your next post.

You truly have had a wonderful life, and it's not over yet! You've been places, seen things that many only get to dream about. You've met your soul mate, and married her, and everything is good. I enjoyed reading your possitive poem full of the good times you've managed to fill your life with. Well done!! A pleasure to read. :)) Sandra

A lovely series of reminiscences that all lead to the conclusion we begin to suspect from the beginning. A wonderful life indeed. There's also a sweet and comforting cadence to this glowing litany of days.
