It's so true that men can fall well short of a woman's expectations and desires, an because, generally speaking, the man takes the lead, and that's the order that God intended, each play a vital role in a relationship. Beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Nomi,
These rhyming couplets show how opposites attract but don't always last.
The commitment needs to be on both sides to make a strong relationship.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Your words are so true of so many--esp so called
big name Hollywood stars. I believe to them it's all
a game--love never entered the picture. Your poem
is well written with good rhymes and great imagery.
Love doesn't seem to mean much to many in the way
it did years and years ago.

Funny, I was thinking mainly of big name celebs when I wrote it. Thank you for your comments.

In "Mismatched Lovers," the narrator confesses to the narrow selfishness that moved him to woo a beautiful woman, and reveals how the objectification of this woman caused her to break off the connection he wanted. Each line or pair of lines creates a contrast beween what he wanted: sex, status, amusement; and what she wanted: fulfillment, love, respect.

And that is what leads to a classic case of misalignment in the romance department.

Well said, Nomi. All the best, Frank

Sometimes relationships are mismatched and end in heartbreak as each partner wants something different from the union, mostly the women just want to be loved by a good man who cares, I enjoyed your unique poem, love Dolly x

Hello Nomi, your poem illustrates a story that is told too often. Your poem reads and flows well, and your message is clear. Of special note:
None were surprised that they failed to jell.
She grew tired of life inside an empty shell.
(The above is the usual conclusion. It's sad when people use each other.)
Thank you for your author's notes. Good photo choice. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

To be late blooming means that you are well prepared as opposed to someone who rushes and winds up arriving prematurely. Thank you for your comments.

Thank you, nomi. I just read a good quote the other day ... I may walk slowly by never backwards. That's me, and when I arrive, they know I'm there - lol. LateBloomer

I love poetry that evokes emotion; this one makes me feel sadness. I enjoyed your rhyme scheme and your word choice of "jell". Well done. I look forward to reading more of your works.

I enjoyed the cadence of this poem and the rhyming structure. It felt real - this is a situation I recognise. The poem conveyed both the mismatch in goals and also the tragedy of it.

The message is clear and we see mismatched couples every day in the news, in our families and workplaces. They say "opposites attract" but fundamentally there must be similarities to make it work.
Well done
Blessings
