A wonderful poem. How wonderful both to see the quail and your dad's clever solution to help the chicks along.
Thank you for the image as I read this.
Best wishes,
Mary

Aw, isn't that sweet. Little tail feathers shaking as they waddle up the ramp. I know they aren't ducks! LOL. But it was a nice and caring gesture by you dad. And mom. Thanks for sharing.

What a delightful memory to have of your parents' concern for the quail family. Your little rhyming verse depicts it well to accompany the charming illustration.

This is sweet for a limerick - quite unusual. But it fits in well with the theme of your book, and an impressive chapter for the letter Q (I am looking forward to X [perhaps you'll use Xyst that lyenochka reminded us of this week, that might be appropriate]).

Ah, Katherine--you know, when I say lyenochka's post about Xyst, I thought about that, too! Maybe I can make it work! I appreciate your recommendation and kind words. Sending lots of good wishes!

I love the back story to this quaint story and I was wondering how you pronounce "swell" as it doesn't sound like it rhymes with anything to me, but maybe it does to you, a fine story, much enjoyed, how sweet of your Father to make a ramp for the quail, love Dolly x

Oh, Dolly, thank you for your review! I am afraid the trouble lies in my sloppy pronunciation of the words "quail" and "rail" (more like "quell"). I revised my limerick--hopefully, it rhymes a little better now! Sending lots of good wishes to you!

What a great story told in your little limerick about the family of quails. I am glad that your father was able to help the quail chicks keep up with the parents!
