Hi Debra,
I enjoyed your Tableau. Thanks for teaching it.
What a nice scene for that couple! Looks like a stream running past them. And in the far meadow, that must be sheep, eh? That's what I call retirement.
I must have told you that we love to watch "Escape To The Country" over here. Most of the time, the hosts seem to be either Jules Hudson, Nicki Chapman, or Jonnie Irwin. Sonali Shah has also been host for a few shows. We enjoy the different counties you have there. There are rolling hills where sheep polka dot the scenery. There seems to be many barns that have been refurbished into homes. A lot of homes are built with rock walls, some dating as far back as the 17th century! And the prices! Yikes! They are so high. If we didn't have any kids and granddaughters, we'd consider living there, though. A coastal county, though. We love an ocean beach and the sea air. My ancestors lived in the Scottish highlands.
I especially like the alliteration and rhymes in your poem.
"Perfectly pictured -
Peaceful alliance."
and the rhymes, endings "ance/ence" of "alliance/silence/compliance".
I think I'd write "contented silence" or "satisfied silence". But that's just me. Nothing wrong with reconstructing a word. We poets have a certain freedom with the English language to make it work for us. Right?
Nicely penned!
Hugs,
Kimbob

    Hello Kimbob :)
Thank you for your great feedback.
Thanks for the suggestions - I'm not a fan of contractions either, to be honest, but I sometimes use them just to make my desired word fit. I like your alternatives :)
I'd love to leave by the sea too - my parents are lucky enough to live on the east coast of Lincolnshire... about an hour away from me.
The Scottish Highlands would be equally as beautiful though :)
    Best wishes as always, Debra

Emily Romano is quite a legendary creator of poetic forms. This Tableau is yet another that just feels so right on the page. Love that you created a warmth of mood so quickly...and that you were able to add a kiss of rhyme to enhance the glow of this couple!

Lovely tableau poem which is also ekphrastic and celebrates a lifelong relationship which is comfortable in conversation or in silence. They have a harmonious compliance!

This is a stunning tableau with your deft use of rhyme and use of soft consonance bring this marriage right into the present.

The tableau is a fine form, and you have used it to perfection.

Excellent addition to your book. :)

Two people in sync after years of partnership make a peaceful tableau. Your words describe the scene perfectly. My favourite line is "comfortable silence" I'm not a fan of contractions but I'll go with the flow because I like the line so much.

Stay safe and blessed, Julia

LOL, thanks Julia! I don't like using them either, but sometimes I do it to make the word I really want 'fit' in the right place!

You did a great job, Debra, with your poem
interpreting the picture. I like the descriptive
words you used, the smooth flow, and the sweet
picture.

There is something quite clever about this collection of words with a "p" sound at the beginning and end and the consonants seem to pop throughout, these two people are comfortable enough to be together without exchanging words, a mutual understanding of the minds here, much enjoyed, love Dolly x
