Judgements - we all make them. Sometimes it's unfairly, but sometimes it's necessary. What a nicely written, thought provoking poem. Best regards, Lilly

Thank you, Lilly.

Your poetry gives the reader much to ponder, which is what good poetry is supposed to do, I think.
I could relate to the memories of my own ideals as a young adult and how, looking back, I see the same issues I railed against many years ago.
But I hope life is more than "signifying nothing" as the bard indicated.
Really nice job!

Thank you.
And?I hope so, too.

We all get judged at sometime, and not always fairly. But it's up to us to decide whether what we do God would approve of. For man to judge man, it would be impossible, even though they do. You have to be perfect before you can judge someone else. And who can claim perfection? This was a really excellent poem, and I loved the picture. :)) Sandra xx

Brilliant. I love your poem, but my favorite stanzas are the first three:
"They drag you
by your sorrow.
Your head
breaks the surface,
you gasp
as the black pool clings.
Will you meet
the hammer
or the scythe?"
I greatly enjoyed your poem. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe.

Comment from Pam (respa)
-Nice artwork and presentation, Doug.
-A well written poem with effective imagery
and good questions that make us think.
-Things don't look good in the beginning
because we are floundering in this thing called life.
-However, we are "oppressed yet dream" so there is hope.
-I like the verse with "dogma" and staccato sounds and rhyme.
-Sometimes there is sadness, but we can still "strut on the stage."
-Well done; thanks for sharing it.

Life is for living, nothing is for free, living is full of problems, difficulties, ruminations, judgment, oppression to make a living complete and successful; straightway is never appreciable; well said, well done; post god speed more; positively encouraging editing, negatively not wording, forgiving errors of theist-good authors-writers. I concur. You can't get through life without being judged or infact misjudged by at least one person along the way.
No one really knows da fit of dem boots 'cept you, huh?
Yep...
Been with someone like that for thirty years.
Well,...no more.
I like the single life.
Slightly less judgy hahahahahaha

Hello Doug,
Ah, life indeed. Maybe we can be, without being judged.
Those winds blow warm and cold, and sometime cause havoc,
but the sun also shines bringing energy to that green
which also needs rain.
And perhaps it does matter after all.
Better to strut upon the stage than to fall off or not even step upon.
Best wishes.

This a great free verse (or at least that how I see it). So much sadness, the second stanza is amazing. The last stanza is simply the best. I feel the lack of hope or fairness, that often happens when children or people experience "the rubber band finally being broken". Also, the minimal use of words adds to the effectiveness of this piece.
