Ciao!
What a creative and unique topic for this contest.
I was wondering what the gorillas do down in the basement at night. ( Shabani and his troop in Japan I'm referring to)
So the young ones are just like kids that are reluctant to go to bed straight away.
They look like they are having the best time of their lives
Your description of the event is very captivating. You captured in words their playful vibe and the surprise they are gorillas is the cherry on the cake.

This does not fit the "true family story" as one would expect. That is what makes the story a brilliant, creative, and fun read.
I enjoyed reading and wish you the best in the contest.

Mary

Thank you for sharing this writing prompt with us. I can see you know some math. I've missed your writing. I hope you've just been busy and nothing serios. This is a good write.

While comical, and the family being apes gives the story a unique perspective, you do have it marked General Fiction, whilst the contest calls for true (non-fiction) pieces? Not sure how that will fly?

Oh geez, thanks for the timely catch. I apparently forgot to change the default setting (which had it marked fiction). I just changed it to nonfiction. This site needs to be structured better to help avoid these sorts of pitfalls.

I love this story - well-written, witty, and your descriptions of the various physicalities gave credibility to the scene you were describing. It's clear that you have a wicked sense of humor.

Thank you Pam! I had to throw SOMETHING in there to stretch out this silly description of gorillas at play to get over 500 words, and geometry descriptions seemed like the easiest way to get up my word count without adding fluff. Haha. -Harambe

Hi there,
I'd have recognised this piece of writing without any identifying name! good fun and the descriptions whilst many were fairly easy to picture. got a smile out of me by the end and a good chuckle.
this fits the rules as far as I can determine.
Best of luck to you and happy banana day for the 20th.

Thank you G. I sure hope it passes the CEC. I think I followed all the rules. The contest is still held up in committee for some reason. Guess I will find out soon : ) Thank you for your banana day observance! -H
