Hi Debra,
I enjoyed your trip through Africa. Poor wildebeest.
Dolly invented another poetic form? Wow. Thanks for teaching it, the Octahex. I noticed the 8668 syllable count right away, but not the inner rhyme "throne/alone/bone" until later when reading the rules.
It's all about survival in Africa. Unless very fast, the prey is out of luck. Lions, tigers, hyenas, rhinos, hippos, black mambas, elephants, crocodiles... enough reasons to keep me away from the country. Gazelles are pretty lucky at 80 kph. Although the wildebeest is fairly fast, too.
Nicely penned for the NaPoWriMo!
Hugs,
Kimbob

I wouldn't fancy my chances in Africa much, either!

I would not want to be anywhere near that Lion. During a movie introduction my nine year old sister screamed.

The year was 1962, the movie was Blue Hawaii with Elvis Presley. Inside of the movie theater. It was the MGM Lion.
She got everyone's attention.

Thank you for sharing this. This Lion looks like the same one in your post.

Excellent job with Dolly's Octahex form. I noticed it the other day, and haven't been around to give it thought.

I very much like what you have done with it, with a perfect theme.

Many thanks for sharing. :))

Thank you for sharing your poem. It is not easy to be at the top but not necessary that the fear is common for all. To some, it is a sign to challenge and prove oneself stronger than the norm.

A fun octahex poem for the lion, the king of beasts. I'm glad he can feast and am surprised he doesn't get the first "gnaw." Still feel sorry for their meal.

Is the spelling "wildebeast" or "wildebeest" ? I have only seen the latter but it could be a British vs. American spelling thing...

    Hello Helen :)
Thanks for your feedback! Thanks also for picking up on the spelling... I never knew, I just assumed that the right way to spell it was with an 'a' - Anyway, I checked it and - my bad.... whoops! I'm going to change it right away.
Best wishes as always, Debra x

I think it's because of the Dutch influence. They tend to double up letters. Lol.
