This is precious. Children today don't know about hanging clothes out to dry. They are missing that wonderful scent when they are brought in.

(I think seven is a bit old for a sippy cup!)

A child' s perspective can be quite different than an adult's.

Kids do say the darndest things and in their minds when they do not grasp a concept one usually will not change their opinions.

Your contest entry was fun to read. I understand how a 7 year
old would view the situation compared to the adult. You did a
good job with the dialogue that keeps your little story moving.
I enjoyed reading your entry, Mike. I would delete the notes til
after the contest since this is fiction and you told us it's real.
Best wishes, Jan

This was cute, all she had to explain was, its cheaper to air dry and the sun actually sanitizes as well, I wish you would write more stories like this,

Cute picture. Really cute conversation. That is a different way of drying clothes but likely uses a lot less electricity that way. Everyone is entitled to do it there on way. Allison is going to have to learn to deal with those little mysteries of life.

I can relate to this and many others . My favorite is from the little girls that lived next door. They were five and seven. They'd knock on the door and ask if the old an (my husband)could come out and play. My husband suffering from cancer but never let the girls see his pain, we had a stack of paper my son brought from work for the kids to draw on, They loved to show the "old man," they could draw. He always smiling as he hung up their pictures on the cork board over his work bench, and they'd paint pictures for their mom.
My husband and I looked after them till she got home from her shift.Good job! It put a smile on my face looking back and air drying my own sheets and towels . The smell so good being dried the old fashioned way. It gives the clothes a fresh air clean smell.ð???ð?ª·ð?ª·ð???

What a sweet little girl, and this funny conversation she had with Wanda. I'm sure there are many children these days who have no idea what a clothes line is, or experienced that fresh scent when the towels and bedding have hung to dry on one. Thanks for sharing, Mike.

Hi there,

It's one of those funny little anecdotes that creeps up in regard to kids from time to time. My daughter has autism and is incredibly literal which poses no end of confusion for her... and us! lol

I can just see this playing out.

All the best

The simplistic view of a child comes through here as we see this humorous skit that portrays the varied approaches to life we adults have, thrown into doubt by the simple view of the child. estory
