Haha! You are so funny Linda! My girlfriend used to date my boyfriend's (now my husband) best friend. When we double dated, her and I would sing that and get right in their faces for that phhh part!
Thank you for your incredibly fun review and sharing those awesome memories with me. You made my week!

Author, I think you did a fine job translating the vernacular. As you say it is much easier to sing or say out loud, than it is to write. But you did it, and I understood every word of it.

My only suggestion is to darken the font. It's a bit light.

Very clever and many thanks for the laugh. Wishing you great luck in the booth. :)

Gloria you are so sweet, and I thank you for your kind review and comments.
Maybe you can help me, as I tried repeatedly to darken and even tried bold letters. It worked for the BR549, and looked like it would work for the poem,, but kept coming back w/o it. However, editing with advanced really screws up lines and adds those little symbols. Regular editing at least let's you change the background color. I appreciate your feedback, as much as your awesome review, so do you know what I might be doing wrong?
reply by Gloria .... on 19-Apr-2022
Do you use the advanced editor? That is where all the changes can be made. Basic editor doesn't have many features.
reply by the author on 19-Apr-2022
Yeah, it's actually on the advanced that screws up my work, but I think I'm doing something wrong, because I only click select to highlight the texts, but it becomes a monstrous complete highlight and covers the whole page. Does that make any sense?
    Once again, I thank you!
reply by Gloria .... on 19-Apr-2022
Oh that's good then. If you are using the advanced editor, just change the font to size 20 which will make it very visible.
reply by the author on 19-Apr-2022
Ok, I will go back and try it again. Thanks Hon!
reply by Gloria .... on 19-Apr-2022
Remember to highlight all your text first, then change the size and font if you like. And always remember to click SAVE after you make a change.

Check it out Gloria, cos it actually worked this time!
I think I was afraid to click on select all & was trying to highlight just parts at a time.
I'm so thankful to you for your help! I owe you one! (or 10)
    : )

Yes, I checked, and it worked beautifully. Glad to be of help. :))

Great job with this ode to Hee-Haw. I don't really know hill-billy slang well, coming from Australia, but this rings true of what I remember of Hee-Haw. A very original and creative piece, filled with humour. I'm still smiling. Best wishes for your entry.

How I calculated your rating. You add 5+4+9 = 18 devide by 3 answer is 6. So, you get 6 stars and I get $1.02 for future promoting. We all win.
This was a fun write. Loved your hillbilly talk and your originality.

Hahaha! You are awesome Bob! I love your calculations, so thank you for the generous six stars! You have completely made my week, My girlfriend and I used to sing in the car while double dating with my, now husband and his best friend. We'd sing, "I searched the world over and thought I found true love..... " And when it got to the end of the verse, we both got up close to the guys, and they got the remains of the song right in their face.
Thank you again Bob for the awesome six stars, kind review and reminiscing with me! 😊

This is a blast from the past. You did well bc with the hillbilly lingo in this story abut winning money hen it's too late to enjoy it. At least he can pay off his past due taxes.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Thanks so very much for your kind review and fun comments,
It was scary doing something so different, but I've gotten a little braver as I learn that we never know unless we try. Thank you again!

You've spun out such a humorous story here as an ode to Hee Haw. I don't live in the US so I am not familiar with this show, but I certainly got the picture with imagining you in a 'chevalay' then getting pulled over by the cops; winning the lottery, giving it away due to terminal illness then staying alive and back to the money problem. Well done... I hope you win.

LisaMay, you amaze me, You got the whole message and never saw the silly show. You have no idea how much that meant to me! Thank you for the lovely review and kind comments too. You made my week!

It just goes to show how well you captured the flavour of the show. I found your poem very entertaining.
I know what you mean about fighting autocorrect when you want to write in dialect. Darn computers seem to think they know better than we writers do!

And a hee haw to you! That show gave rise to "Gloom, despair and agony on me- deep dark depression-excessive misery. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all- Gloom despair and agony on me"
I still sing that hen the situation calls for dark humor.
I expect this poem of yours is a winner. It certainly should be on the top!

Good effort.
I loved Hee Haw. I found it real and entertaining. The down-home humor, while sometimes over-the-top, was a hoot.
"ya sure its all benign?" - even hillbillies would know to use an apostrophe - it's - . (lol)
Your intentions being pure, I gave five stars for the hard work of not spelling and fighting the program. Good luck.

Thanks Wayne, I left out most punctuation on purpose, to keep it looking more authentic, except at the end of sentences. But lol, I'm really not fluent in old hillbilly talk. I really do appreciate your kind review and comments!

LOL - what a fun poem this is. I remember that show - only vaguely. I probably only watched it a couple times. Well, I certainly enjoy reading silly more than I like watching it and I really enjoyed reading this. HEEHAW! Best wishes, Lilly
