Regina. This is outstanding. Holy S. This is what I call poetry. The rhymes have a gentle free verse quality. They have that element of surprise when they appear in this mysterious metre. The imagery is gorgeous. The mood is reverent and hushed. I am truly blown away by this poem

Such sadness is contained in your poem, encapsulated in its title 'In The Mourning Fields'.... utter tragedy for a youthful bridegroom to not live out the full measure and pleasure of his life; killed in the morning.
This line emphasises his death very poetically:
"A cascading veil of lace, white roses,
teardrops, a pall cast over his bride and
nuptial guests,"

This is such a beautiful but sad poem. I was hoping it was fictional. You truly made me feel for the young bride. Thank you for sharing this poem here.
