Very honest, and very moving. It's easy to see how one can get caught up in such a scene, simply by being young, innocent and naive. Powerful writing, and well expressed. I hope you are doing okay, and I think of you and pray for you often, and hope life is going okay for you at the moment.

HI Charity, I have lived in Illinois for over 45 years...
not far from Chicago...you hear stories like this told
everyday sweet girl...

the one on thing we do learn...we learn wisdom from
our mistakes...what not to do again...you ask God for
forgiveness...and you forgive yourself...move on
to a better live...

I love your poem my sweet friend...and your picture
is perfect...very well written...love you...Linda xxoo

Your writing is so powerful and honest. I particularly like your last line which aches deep and echoes inside me. "The innocent person I once was is never coming back ever." I admire your sharing and your motive to reach out and help others. May God bless you abundantly.

Thank you for sharing this emotional poem with us. It's never too late. God always forgives us for our wrongdoing. He will also help us forgive ourselves. God covers us with grace.

This poem really tugged at my heart. I see stuff like this on the news every day and it gets me so angry. Your poem reminded me what it's like to be young and make mistakes. Thank goodness you are able to look back with maturity and understanding. Not everyone lives through this type of scenario. Best wishes, Lilly

Yes some people never learn and you either die or end up in jail a long time. On the other end the poor innocent lives taken or injured. It will haunt you forever. Thank you for your feedback.

This is a strong emotional piece. It is well written and well crafted. The presentation is graphic just as is the topic. You definitely have a way with words that grabs the reader, shakes them then releases at the end.

A life changing event, indeed. We country folk never get exposed to things like that. Maybe the innocent person that you once were is not coming back, but maybe that person is now a better person.

This was a harrowing story. The rhyme scheme and rhythm were consistent and well done. You really painted a picture here and detailed the loss of innocence well. Anyone can wind up falling for a person who has a hidden side that we don't see until it's too late.

Well at least you didn't die. So many do not get off that easy. A lesson learned should lead to a mistaken path spurned. No one is perfect, I too have done things I regret. The debt to which I owe my survival, is paid by my walking the straight and narrow. This is an excellent example of truth stripped of fantasy and presented as a wakeup call to the unwary.

So, is this the nuts and bolts of living in the hood? To know something is wrong and regardless, why tell the truth; let's suffer the consequence. One would think somewhere, sometime along the way there would come a change and those innocent lives lost would get to live another day.

Yes consequences was paid with jail time and in other ways. The truth is to help others who been through situations similar or more worst than mines. Thanks for your review.
