Congrats on the win in this contest. You outdistanced the contenders and chose a different dessert-type path for your post. Your photo was most appropriate for your take on this contest. It is all in one's perspective what foods we feast on.

This is the way to win contests and the hearts of a reader. Your poem evoked so many feelings in this reader. I used to be a case manager for homeless families in Boise, Idaho and have seen instances close to this.

Thank you so much for the great review and giant sixer, Beck. I couldn't imagine my whole family being homeless with me. How devastating that would be. I'm glad you were helping them out. I really appreciate the gracious rating, B. I'm glad you liked the piece. Thank you again.

You really tugged on the heart strings of the readers with this 5-7-5 poem.
The picture and the poem both gave me a sadness to have so much, when there's people who are thankful for a dumpster half eaten candy bar. Bless you for bringing awareness to a problem we should never forget. Thank you for your awesome poem! Good luck in the contest!

I fear that this is not in the contest, as I received notification, with your name included, and there is no message to say it's in a contest. I am sorry, because I think this is excellent and meaningful, and would have been a winner. It would have had my vote. I suppose it is too late now for Tom to fix it as it has received reviews? nevertheless, it is very worthy, and well written.

Thank you for the great review, Wendy. There was some mix up going on but hopefully it's all cleared up now. It should be back in the contest now. I really appreciate the kind comments. I'm glad you liked my take on the contest. I hope your Easter is going good.

Something is wrong. The contest does not show up, your entry is not blind (I got a notification when you published it) and the contest is not listened on your piece. It is also not in booth. What happened? Hopefully it did not vanish. I would have joined this contest for sure if I knew about it, as I am cooking ground rabbit in the shape of a bunnyrabbit for Easter dinner, and might have given you a run for your money. Ah well.

Yeah, there was some mix up with how and when I entered. It should be fixed now and the piece should be back in the contest but we'll see. I really appreciate the awesome review and sixer, friend. Yeah, ground rabbit pie would have been awesome. Haha. Hope your Easter's going good.

This is an extremely well-observed 5-7-5 poem, that highlights convincingly how hard and aleatory life on the streets is. I don't understand why your contest entry isn't showing up on the post, so don't know when the voting is... but good luck.

Thank you so much for the fantastic review and giant sixer, Katherine. Yeah, there was some mix up but it should have all been resolved with the piece back in the contest. I dearly appreciate the kind comments and good luck wishes. I'm glad you liked the little piece. I hope you're having a wonderful Easter. Thank you again.

A case of being thankful for small mercies I think, and am reminded of the man who felt sorry for himself because he had no shoes, until he met another who had no feet.

I tend to do that a lot as well. Whenever I get to thinking how life isn't all it's cracked up to be, I think of what's going on with other people around the world and that puts life in perspective and lets me know I actually have it pretty good. I really appreciate the review and stars, friend. I hope your Easter is going great.

I like this a lot, but I would make one changes. I would put the "a" at the end of the second line before dessert. I personally think this improves the flow, which is really is important in these small pieces. None the less, you are the poet and really like this focus on the homeless. FB tends to ignore this plight, so good for you,

Sad, but true as these desperate people look through the bins for left overs just to survive another day. To be homeless on the streets would be terrifying, a poignant write, love Dolly x

Thank you for the great review, Dolly. I had this entered into a blind contest but it isn't showing up like that on my end. Would you please tell me if my name was displayed or not. I really appreciate the gracious stars. I'm glad you liked this sad piece.

This was truly touching. I am impressed that you managed to tell this particular tale in so few syllables. It said a great deal. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes.
