I really love your poem Gma, though you already know that :) I wish I hadn't used my six stars already... but have you read Robyn Corum's new Pizza With Milk, I think it's called? It's fantastic, and so is this :)

Thank you, GGG (that stands for granddaughter Goosey Gander)! Yes! Robyn did it again! So fun. Just like you! <3

I enjoyed reading this poem as it is well written and well presented. Your descriptive writing creates a smooth pace. The rhymes work well here and don't seem forced.

You sis a great job, Mama Baer, with your poem. The style
is complex, but you handled it well. Your lines are smooth
with great rhymes--everything is in the right place. The
image is perfect. I see this as a tribute not only to your
parents and their hard work and all families like them. The
idea of canning shows many aspects of one's character esp
love of family.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thanks so much, Jan! I appreciate your kind and encouraging review! Yes, canning is so much work, but I am always happy to have it. Sending good wishes your way!
Comment from LisaMay
Your delightful poem brought back happy memories for me of my own mother's industrious activity in bottling and preserving, and her pride in conserving what Dad had grown. I loved looking at the jars so colourfully arranged in our pantry. I was part of the process too, filling the jars.
Aesop's Fables should be required reading for youngsters - they contain much of value; and I loved the musical grasshopper and ants video.

Oh, LisaMay, thank you for sharing your own memories. It is quite something to gaze on the completed work and full shelves. And shout out to Aesop!
Comment from Ric Myworld
Oh, I'm with you and your family. Eating those fresh canned goods, and especially, that homemade salsa and banana peppers, you would have thought I was Mexican. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! Great job with your chime operandi! And I keep growing in admiration for your hard-working family! I heard of canning but have never done it. But your family gardened and made sure you had plenty of food for the winter like in the Aesop fable!

Mama,
I had to dash straight over to read your poem. *smile* It's lovely! I've seen several of these - and even the creator can't always make them this smooth. (shhhh...) I love the story - it reminds me of my own antlike grandmother. --sigh-- I miss her so much!!
Thank you - this is AWESOME!

Thank you for hopping over to read, Robyn! I appreciate your encouraging words. Dolly noticed a few hiccups. :) That's how we improve! I love trying new forms.
Comment from Mary Vigasin
I enjoyed your Chime Operandi, first for the perfect rhyme and theme, and second for the lesson your mom taught her children using the Aesop story. I never saw home canning until I visited my Aunt's and Uncle's farm and they preserved food for the winter also in their cellar.
Very cleverly presented.
Best wishes,
Mary

Now that is what I call eating like queens and kings. You can not beat the food that comes from those home canned jars. And the hard work of the person who does the work deserves ribbons and medals. My grandmother made everything we ate. And it was fine eating. It has been 62 years, and I remember the taste of everything. Thank you for such wonderful memories. Have a great Easter.

Dear Carolyn, isn't it amazing how our memories are tied so closely to our senses, like taste and smell? Thanks so much for your kind and encouraging review!
