You made an art of Acrostic poetry. I am blown away. I am also excited to come across a kindred spirit who loves the art in poetry. I am definitely going to be a fan of yours. In thnext few days I will post some magic I have performed with poetic forms. An ABCDerian, A Double Acrostic Cleaved Petrarchan/Rondeau Sonnet, and a Caligram that I think you'll enjoy.

Hey thanks very much for seeing and commenting on this old piece. I look forward to seeing these new pieces of yours. Each new form is a great new challenge, and the benefits to that mental exercise cross over into other areas.

Very much looking ndeed. I am also going to try to do one of your 2D Acrostics. It looks very challenging.

Awesome! I was actually planning on hosting a second contest for that in the coming days and would be thrilled to have you join in. It really doesn't matter who "wins"; joining in alone and trying to stay vaguely on topic with the alliteration restrictions is enough of a challenge. You can see all the previous contest entries and examples in the notes at the bottom of "Red Dawn".

Ciao poet, you now have two votes.

Your poem is food for thought , your insight sharp witted.

Your 2D /Matrix acrostic is unique indeed ! I wonder how long it took you to write such a complex format?

Keep safe!

Thanks Tempeste! Much appreciated. This one took probably about as long as my "ACROSTIC" poem on Putin, so 2-4 hours total. The "WEATHER" one took me about twice as long. Yeah they are challenging -- a lot of experimentation, Googling, revision. Exhausting but fairly rewarding when the solution presents itself. Perhaps someday I'll have enough of them to make a publishable set. Now if I REALLY wanted to challenge myself, I'd figure out how to do these...

Those anagrams are cool , yet your 2D acrostics must be in theme with the word chosen ..that is not easy

I thought you took longer to write red dawn , I?m impressed?. too complex for me . My head would be throbbing.

Looking forward to reading your next work.

How is your job at Amazon going?
reply by the author on 25-Apr-2022
It is a great brain workout. That's also why I don't do them more often.

Amazon, at least at this location, is many things. Full of appallingly incompetent and stupid managers. The decent ones are almost universally from the US military. Ethnically diverse. Hyper woke (they just outlawed the words "gaylord", a conventional term used for large cardboard boxes, as well as the word "blackball", because they worry those words are offensive). They even had a trans day recently where they handed out trans pins to everyone. Good ideas are belittled and suppressed. Hard work is not recognized or rewarded. Poor performers are seldom disciplined. There is a cult about safety, yet critical safety issues like the insanely high warehouse sound volume remain entirely unresolved. It is frustrating to say the least. I am meeting with a fairly high level manager today to discuss some of these issues. I don't know if anything will come from it though, and there will certainly be no compensation for my ideas, which would save the company hundreds of millions of dollars if adopted. Maybe I should be taking my ideas somewhere else. The only reasons I am still there is that it takes time to find other jobs, I can sometimes get good exercise working here, and I'm trying to figure out developing products to sell to Amazon that would improve safety and be highly lucrative -- which I can best do while still having an inside connection here.

Hello Author,
Nice job on your acrostic poem, and I loved the subject matter and title. If we're not careful, we'll be going down that same path. Already big tech is censoring anyone who doesn't comply with what they feel is acceptable speech. Well done. Good luck in the contest.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Thank you Tom! Yeah, it's not just big tech that is doing it... a whole bunch of my contests even here have been censored : ) These complex works never seem to place well in contests, unfortunately. Probably something with seasons, God or cats won.

This is an interesting example of a 2D acrostic. The poem itself is rather finely crafted about censorship. The biggest problem is the red letters on black, which are almost impossible to read, at least for old eyes.

Hey Carol, thank you for the feedback. I did a number of tweaks to the font and made it as light as possible without making it pink -- let me know if you can see it better now! Thanks!

I read it on the judging screen and it was much easier to read.
