Hi Shauna,
This is a good reminder of how we waste our world's beauty to create new neighborhoods. I remember standing in a crowd watching an old barn burn down. It was actually set on fire and controlled by the fire department because it was falling down and dangerous for kids to play around. It was in a field behind my grade school.

Change is not always pleasant. But things will forever keep changing and we just have to accept them as best we can. And usually, we learn to cope with whatever is sent our way. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thank goodness for coping skills. Yes, as they say, there is nothing so constant as change.

This is a great piece. I'm glad to see your family ended up with a little bonus on the hill. I enjoyed the read. it brings memories of fall and apple picking.

This is a nice poem. It's sad when they remove the orchards. That happened here to my favorite orchard. But the area you lived in apparently had a Grand view.

Thank you for your review, Carol. And yes! It is a grand view from the edge of the hill to the south valley. :)

Don't know how I send them twice but keep making same mistake. One day I'll learn.

You cover what happens to rural areas such as the "Hill" which became a suburban neighborhood. It sounds like a great place to grow up. I like your use of the cinquain and its reverse to tell the tale!

Thank you, Helen. It really was a great place to grow up. Lots and lots of kids my age. I am having such fun trying my hand at lots of different poetry styles. I appreciate your taking time to read them!
