The amount of times I've had a good idea whilst almost asleep, and it's gone when I wake up, that is so annoying! So, I have every sympathy with you, but at least you managed to send an email to yourself with the key words to remind you! Well done, this was an excellent 75 word story, well written and good luck in the contest! :)) Sandra xx

This is so very well done. How often have we dreamed of spectacular stories, those of which we have completely forgotten their subject after we've woken. Loved this! I wish you much success with the contest.

This was cute! I have often written excellent pieces in my dreams, but I have never e-mailed myself about them. I am sorry you couldn't remember the rest. Good luck in the competition.

Sometimes what happens in real life is stranger and more interesting than our imaginations:-) Once you figure all that out, we'll see it on FanStory! Nice job with just 75 words to work with.

Dear Mystery Writer,

Yeah. You lost me. --frowny face--

I was nodding and smiling and thinking, oh yyeeeaaahhh, that's me, all right! I often, OFTEN get a fab idea in the middle of the night and have this war with myself about whether to get up and write it down or whether it's SO GOOD that I will CERTAINLY remember it in the morning. (Yeah, right.)

AND I often also send myself emails about ideas - or make iPhone notes. They'll be nuggets. Idea 'starters', or poem or story pieces, maybe even whole things I've written in some inconvenient moment when actual computer access wasn't possible.

Ohhhhh -- now, I see it!!! **That last line!** Your author's note. Now, everything is clear. HAHAHAHAHA! And, YES!! I have also had THAT happen, too. And just thought... well, that is one idea down the old drain. Wonder if it was absolutely BRILLIANT - or one that is better left to the trash heap, anyway?

Fun post. Thanks for the smile.

Alltthhoough.. I might say - if it took the note to make the light bulb go off, you may need to adjust something in the main bit. IDK. Just a thought.

Thanks and good luck! Actually, so far, this is still far and away the best entry I've read.

Thank you for your review. I do see your point; I had the time frame and the word count working against me, that is my excuse, and I am sticking to it. LOL

But you don't remember what you dreamed about the gaggle of geese? If they were Canadians, it would be a horror story about the thousand or more that winter in my lake and yard. Think about them just before you fall asleep, maybe you will come up with the story. This is a fun entry about not knowing why you told yourself about that gaggle of geese. Best of luck in the contest.

Love this very short story and its surprise ending. I'm not a Flash Fiction expert as I usually write longer pieces, which is good as FanStory requires a minimum character count to review!

only possible edit: "Just before I pushed the new release button. (this is sentence fragment. Ok if it's meant to be free-style poetry, but it reads more like prose so I would change the period to a comma) I woke up."

Thank you for posting this lovely picture of geese. A story about geese wandering around going nowhere. The post is humorous, giving us a laugh for the day. Have a great day. Good luck.

Hmm, did you send yourself an email while you slept? Or was this done before you went to bed and the geese were still on your mind? I know I jot down ideas at work, so I don't forget them by the time I get home.

Interesting.

This seventy-five-word flash fiction story, FanStory Dream, has the required word count and starts the endless cycle of gaggle-o-geese invisible input.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.
