Mama,
This is a well done quatern which honors your family home and your mother who ran it. It is sad when you have to sell a home that a family grew up in. But the memories keep it alive.
Keep writing and stay healty.
Good luck in then contest.
Joan

I completely understand and I will be praying for you. I've had to do this with my mother and my in-laws. It was one of the most difficult things I've had to walk through. The last one was the hardest and we had to sell everything and settle the estate among the siblings. My mother was a minimalist which helped. She had very little to divide. She had done it early. Sending you my best today as always and thank you for sharing your story in a poem. Sal XOs

Dear Sal, thanks for your prayers. My mother has done a lot of sorting , too, which makes me want to follow suit so my own children don't have to dig through too many things when the day comes. I so appreciate your sharing your own experience with me. It means a lot! Sending well wishes!

What a sad situation you and your family find yourselves in. And I find you exceptionally brave to undertake to write about all this whilst it is al 'still happening' as it were. I will read with interest. Kate xx

You did a great job with your contest entry for the poem a day contest, MB. I enjoyed reading it. The quatern is one of my favorites. I identified it as I read your great smooth flowing lines. Good job with the rhymes, too. Your details give readers a great sense of what's happening. Thanks for the notes. Yes, it's sad to have to sell. The animated image is perfect.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

Yes, selling a family home is always a big deal, even more so when it's an aging parent who can no longer manage the maintenance.

Glad to see you in the NaPoWriMo. I wish you great success through this journey. :))

I wish your mom well. It must have been difficult for her to make the change

Your poem is very well-written both in rhyming and the sadness of selling the family home.
Best wishes
Mary

Hi Mama Baer,

What a difficult task to undertake. I wish you the best as you cross the threshold to the opportunity of making new memories as you relive the past.

I also love Quaterns.

Good luck in the contest.

Hello Mama Baer :)
I love your quatern. It is so well written and your repeat line naturally falls through the poem and fits perfectly into each stanza. Excellent use of enjambment and a lovely, warm and nostalgic theme.
I look forward to reading more of your poetry throughout the NaPoWriMo challenge.
Good luck with it - you're off to a great start :)
Best wishes, Debra

I feel for you all as it's never easy to let go of the family home and the memories that go with it. But there comes a time when it isn't as important as it once was. Thanks for sharing.

Dear Ric, thank you again. I am learning you are right--we do move on, and things that were important seem to fade as time goes on. Thank you for your kind words and support.

I was in this situation 7 years ago and your words bring back memories of walking through the home one last time with my children. This is bittersweet and it rhymes so well, and flows so nicely. Thank you for this.
