Oh, this poem plucks my heartstrings. If you get a chance, go to YouTube and listen to Eva Cassidy's cover of "Songbird." Rare is the day I don't listen to it!

I will have a listen as soon as I've finished replying to your reviews!
I love the song so much - it never fails to give me goosebumps.
Thank you for your feedback, Debra x
ps; If you have a few minutes spare, have a listen to Sarah Bareilles version of Yellow Brick Road. It's absolutely gorgeous.

So I had a listen.... wow! This is a lovely version - not quite as raw as the original version, but it has a different depth and quality to it. Lovely....thanks for the recommendation :) x

Eva Cassidy was a lovely singer. Taken from us much too soon ~ a mole on her back removed, later to be revealed as melanoma. She died in 1996. Born in 1963... I love her voice.

Oh my. I have tears! Thanks for pointing me to her rendition. I listened twice...and then again.

You could have heard a pin drop in that audience!

I read that Elton John said this was his favorite cover of any song he's ever written...

    I can see why!

Hi Deb,
My favorite bands, Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles. You picked a terrific song here. Love it.
Lucky Mr. White.
"As time tick tocks ever faster" ... Nice alliteration with "t", you tell us: "Don't waste it. When a moment is gone, it's really gone."
Beautiful piano in this song, eh? Christine McVie wrote this when she woke up one night around 3:30am. It took her 30 minutes. I've done that, too. I've written a song in even less time, but only because the whole first line and music was in my head very suddenly. A gift from God. Christine said of Songbird, "It was like a gift from the angels." It's magic when it happens.
Fleetwood Mac often ended a concert with this song back in the day.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Hi Kimbob, Thank you for your lovely feedback :)
You have great taste in music!
The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac are definitely in my Top Ten favourite bands... we went to see The Eagles in Cardiff about ten years ago - they were amazing!
    Best wishes, Debra x

Hi Debra,

I love the Sapphonic Triad form. You have done so well with this ekphrastic moment. Your quote is so well chosen for this piece.

Quite beautiful.

You also have suceeded with an excellent Sapphonic Triad, and on my favourite musical instrument and one of my 'best' pieces of decorative frniture. I grew up in a house full of music, my mum was such a good pianist. Thanks for the happy memory. Kate xx

I love everything about your Sapphonic Triad. I always thought Christine McVie was underappreciated in Fleetwood Mac, because she sure wrote and performed some fine music.

You aced your poem here, as everything is perfect.

Thank YOU for sharing. :))

Another form of poetry I'm unfamiliar with, but it sounds like something I would love to try.
Not sure if it was intentional, but your use of the word "score" fits right in with the musical theme.
I always get excited when I click on "read it" and then see that it is something you have written:-)

But. . . I think it should end with,. . ."and I love you". I know, it's YOUR poem. It just seems like it needs that at the end for me. Piano pulls at my heartstrings too and I never even played. I played the flute but still. . .I love piano music. Best of luck with this enchanting poem.

The quote popped out at me right away. The rest of the poem is as lovely as the quote. Thanks for sharing, and keep up the good work. Best wishes to you.
