This poem, How Did They Know?, which is more an essay than poetic work, asks a question which I can easily guess the answer to. If you go to church, the cleric has a sermon. He or she didn't improvise it as you listened, but spoke from prepared notes to achieve the desired inspirational effect. That's my take on that.

Dear Bill, If you read the Bible's account of that day you will see that no-one was prepared for the number of people who came to hear Jesus speak. This was the scene of the miracle of the loaves and fishes. He didn't have a prepared sermon, but spoke from "the heart". However thank you for your response,
    it is sincerely appreciated.

Hello Author,
You ask a legitimate question. On occasion I've wondered about different things in the bible, who wrote what, how did the author of a particular passage know what someone else was thinking and so on. I think it's fine to wonder and ponder those questions, but for whatever reason, God doesn't give us answers to all of our questions. There is a certain degree of faith that is necessary I suppose. Thanks for bringing this up.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

Dear Tom, Thank you for your review and the five stars. This question has often had me thinking and when I was looking for a suitable Lenten subject it came before me again. So, here we are.

Despite not being the most religious individual myself, I found this spiritual poem to be very insightful and eye-opening and the flow of the poem definitely ties into the driving force engaging the reader to read on.
I will undoubtedly look to read more of your work. Thank you and all the best!

Dear Jonathan, Thank you for your review and the five stars. I ,too am not "overly religious" being more of a philosopher than a devotee, but this question does intrigue me more than somewhat. My portfolio is yours to peruse at your leisure. I hope you enjoy my work and remember any comments or critiques you leave will be appreciated, valued and responded to within a very short time.
