Sandra,
This is such a fantastic poem for children and adult children!
I thoroughly enjoyed it. The rhythm is perfect, and when you read it, it has a wonderful sound and beat.
And, the ending is great and teaches kids a lesson to clean up.
Great work, Sandra.
Blessings,
Cindy

I'm so pleased you liked this one, I enjoyed writing it. :)) I always like to leave a lesson for children, tidying up after them was this poems lesson! Lol. Thank, Cindy. Love Sandra xx

Coming from a pre-school teacher. .. well done. A couple of places I had to stop and re-read but for the most part, very cute and flows well. Congrats on the win. :)

Thank you so much for reading my children's story poem. I had a look at your profile and see you are a children's author. I do enjoy writing for kids. Thanks again. :)) Sandra xx

yes, sooo nice to see fellow writers for children's lit. I think you are much further along than me. . .my BA in Journalism didn't quite do it for me. I should have been in Creative writing from the start. But oh well. I taught pre-school for almost 20 years and now I write for kids and will be self-publishing my first book I think in late September. I should maybe change my name to Grandma Moses, it's taken me so long. :)

My first children's book was published in 2012, but the publisher no longer exists, so I've been self-publishing ever since. I wrote an illustrated poem story last year with seperate pages for children to colour in themselves. That is still selling well. By the way, I'm a UK English writer, not American, hence spelling differences. It would be nice if there were more children's contests on here. It really is nice to meet another children's author, you won't see me write many now, I'm into novels for the older child! Lol. Late September is a good month to get your bood out, that's when parents are looking to buy books for their children's Christmas presents. Good luck! If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask. xx

Sandra, you own the crown when it comes to writing for children. You know, I absolutely ADORE everything you write (I'm just not on FS a lot anymore). Congratulations on a well-deserved win with this wonderful poem. And your presentation? Could NOT be more charming!!!
I have just one (very tiny) suggestion, for meter -- final stanza, third line -- I would switch these words around: "(They) (then) brought in a rubbish bin..."
Much love,
Dawn (and again -- woot, woot!!! YAY YOUR WIN!!!)

Comment from Sarah Tummey
I enjoyed reading this. The last line made me smile, as I think it was my poor mum who cleaned up after our birthday parties when we were kids! It's funny to imagine animals doing the same as us. Could you have got a verse in about party games? We used to play Sleeping Lions. Maybe the animals could play a game that involved humans?

Sleeping humans sounds good, lol. They would probably have a game having the winner eat the most of us! LOL. Thank so much for reading this one, Sarah. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and welcome to Fanstory. :)) Sandra xx

What a great party! Unfortunately, my invitation must have been lost in the mail. Food and music and happy animals, it all sounds wonderful. So sad I missed it. LOL Good luck in the contest. I think you may have a winner.

Oh!! I'm so sorry! Your invite must have been eaten by that slithery snake, he wasn't invited so he obviously wasn't going to let you go either!!! Lol!! Thank you so much for reading my poem, and the fun review, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Warm nugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx
Comment from Gloria ....
This is a fun romp through party animals time.
I truly enjoy the ballad metre and rhyme, and the graphics are superb, even though the giraffe is a little kinky.
A most enjoyable story in a poem, and sure to be a hit among all ages. :)
