A lovely story. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved the twist at the end. I guess I was fooled too . Very creative and very well written. All the best in the contest.
With regards

Good one, Deniz! I'm sure you had all of us thinking this poor woman is being scammed, but it did seem rather exaggerated. Then I thought she was just giving her granddaughter a hard time because she wouldn't visit. She got her good. Thanks for the laugh. The dialogue is excellent. Good luck in the contest.

Yes, there was a subliminal message to Sally; look what could happen to a wealthy, lonely Grandma neglected by her family.

    Thanks Judy!

Grandma is sending a subliminal message about what could happen to Sally?s oft neglected wealthy Grandma?:)

This is so amusing: you really have a knack for humor. I started thinking Grandma wasn't that stupid part way through, but I could see the daughter was taken in. She maybe should have gotten the daughter there to meet him and then do the April Fool. Serve the daughter right for ignoring her.

You sure had me fooled. I kept thinking, wait a minute. If she is only 77, I am 79, there is no way someone younger than me with money is going to be that stupid. If she really is that foolish, give me her name and number. Good one.

Hahaha! As I read, I knew it wasn't going to end the way Grandma explained it to Sally, but I didn't expect, "April Fool." The story is hilarious because it is obvious that 35 year old William is making a fool of Grandma.
In the end, Sally is the April Fool. Great story. Best wishes in the contest.

Thanks! There's also a subtle hint as to what MIGHT happen to a wealthy Grandmother neglected for too long and too often. Thanks for reading and commenting!

You made grandma a smart cookie. She was getting all kind of excuses why the family could not take the time to visit. Their ears perked up when she gave them the tale of a young lover who was taking her money.
As well as fooling them, she shamed them

Very well written story.
Not only and April fool but a lesson also.
Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes
Mary

This story was absolutely adorable. I am impressed that you managed to entertain without anything but dialogue. Thanks for sharing this; it gave me a laugh.

I love it, great entry for this contest. You had me in suspense right up until the end. I thought this was going to end differently. What a great April Fool's joke. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you! There was another subtle message in there about what MIGHT happen to a wealthy grandmother ignored by her family, so maybe you were on the right track in your original take on the ending. I really only thought of the April Fool ending at the ending. God bless you, Dennis

Loved your story, my friend, and my brain was screaming NO, NO, the entire time I was reading. I could see some fool doing that out of family neglect. A girl has to do what she must. :) Have a great weekend. Shirley
