Ciao Marco!

I love elephants , they are so majestic and the baby males are so cute when they mock charge. Elephants love to cover themselves in mud. Hippos do too but they are not so entertaining.

When we were getting on each others nerves, pa would pick up a tourist magazine from the local travel agency in Stresa and book two weeks in a SPA mostly to enjoy some mud treatment ..sometimes thermal.

He also loved to meet and talk to people from all over Europe.

Off late he went to Slovenia where he found a SPA that also did Ayurveda.

While he was away soaking in the mud , I enjoyed the freedom..no cooking to do , just lived on small goods, panini and fresh pizza from the bakery next door. (biggrin)

Just me and the boys.

    Tempeste,

Always pleased with your reviews of my poems and your commentary on your life and family. This particular one was done in back and forth collaboration emails with another member! We started with the artwork. My normal practice is the reverse: verse first, the illustration follows.

    Have a happy Easter!

I remember there was a contest once where participants had to work as a duo .. so some members that were friends signed up.

I love to collect unusual pics from internet .. so most of the time, I do the reverse : found the artwork I then write a wee poem.

Buona Pasqua a te Marco !

    Keep safe!

Your skilfull use of alliteration set the scene well for the elephants' activities, then added the fun element with the idea of a summer spa mud soak.

(Those African summer spas are a great way to soak out the pygmies that get squished between elephants' toes.)

Hello Mark,
I enjoyed your poem and the picture that you chose to go with it. What could be better if you're an elephant than to cool down in a mud bath? I saw somewhere that they need the mud or dust to protect their skin from the harsh sun. Well done.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

    Tom,

You research is correct. There is bird that feasts on them to rid them of bugs. Sometimes they create dangerous or infected sores.

Pleased with your comments about verse and artwork.

The misty picture and the slightly whimsical definition of a natural action fit well together. The final line does tie the poem together.

Thanks for a good read.

This three-line poem, Elephant Enjoying Spa, presented with a 5-7-5 formatting, creates the scene of the mud-bathing trunk-toters enjoying a good soak. Nice.

    Bill,

Apparently these big tuskers have a problem with the cucumbers placed on their eyes. They have digital issues that can?t be overcome, but they do get a great soak for their toe nails. LOL.

    Thanks for your review.

    Linda,

THANK YOU for your compliments on this post. At least half of the credit goes to the FS poet who worked with me on the final product. The watercolor is outstanding and the artist can also share in the glory.
