My own personal feeling is that praying is not enough - we can't just ask God to do it and sit back and wait. We must pray and act, and pray that we act as He would have us.

Your four-liner is very timely and expressive. We always need to pray--but surely during times like these, when a bloodthirsty madman is slaughtering innocents. Note: I think "prayers" is one syllable.

Hmm, this is a well made poem for the contest. It will garner much attention from those who are God fearing and those wishing for peace. Not sure God answers prayers or is concerned about human wars but, It can't hurt.
