Great entry for the Very short story writing prompt contest. You captured my attention right away and held it all the way through.

Nice story about a lost dog with a happy ending.

Good luck in the contest.

The story has meritorious value where people know to go in a storm. ............................................................................................................................

Ciao mystery poet , yuo now have 6 votes!

I never understood why some people leave their dogs out in the backyard during a storm or on New Year's Eve.

Most dogs are scarred of thunder, lightening and fireworks. and sadly they will run off frightened ..some end up hit by a car.

Glad your tyke found his way to your doorstep safe.

Ciao!

Hello,
-A very heartwarming story
-Respect of guidelines.
- Great use of punctuation that effectively replaces unnecessary words.
-Concise writing and prolonged meaning.
-Great vocabulary to describe confusion, movement and ensuing panic of the dog: zig-zag, eyes, squeal of brakes.
Very well done. Good luck on your entry.

So sad to think the dog in the story got hit by a car. But the good thing is that the dog survived. I have had a dog get hit by a car and it is very sad. But after some attention he lived, too.

That's cute! Now that's a smart dog and he can read! Great job in telling a whole story just with 280 characters! Ending with 'Safe' gives the story a peaceful ending. Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you so much Helen! I appreciate your super review. (Quite a challenge, as characters includes all spaces and punctuation - not many words.)

This is an excellent short story of a lost dog that found refuge in a human home. We all love dogs, and I think I would have adopted this cute little dog in distress. Lucky for him. Good luck in the contest.

Which website did you use? According to the one I used to check characters - www.charactercountonline.com - your story comes to 275.
It's a great story, action-packed with upsetting drama, that ends well with your warm welcome for the distressed dog.

Oh thank you for reviewing and and taking the time for checking. I used lettercounter.com, but just now tried charactercounteronline.com, and it also said 280. So I don't quite understand that. Hope it will be alright. Never mind. I appreciate your time and your thoughtful review.

You did a great job of telling a whole story with the few characters you were limited to. And the picture of the poor, soaked pup helps tell the story.
He was "welcome" indeed!
