Short and sweet. Liked this. Seems like you can do both long novel and very short nibbles at stories on a wide range of subjects. You deserved this and congradulations. Esther

Oh my, you went way back in my portfolio to find this one. I use to do shorts all the time and somehow got caught up in the lives of my characters and they became the books instead.
Thanks for reading.

This is nicely written and on the surface it seems like the mistress got the last word. On the surface, that is. Good job of making it seem okay, by making the wife appear as a bad person. That will turn those who dislike cheating around. They like justifications.
Nice work.

I've been told I've been walking on the dark side of late so I guess that's why I gave the mistress the benefit in this particular case. Though I doubt either of them were without blame, it seems as if she gave more happiness in return. Thanks for the review and thoughts.

Hey, the dark side can be fun too. ;)

Well, I almost sent you a message a few times but didn't want to catch you at a busy time. Then, I just stumbled across this post, wondering why I hadn't been notified. But realized it was a contest, so they don't sent them to my box. I hope all is well in your world! Ric

Hi...Thank you for thinking about me. The two posts I have written were both blind, but I can't seem to get it together lately. Maybe it's the dreary weather or maybe it's just me, but it's been a struggle. I am silently yelling at myself but that's not working too well either. LOL I appreciate beyond words knowing you thought of me.
Hugs, Carol

What a delightfully cruel twist of fate. :-) Very amusing piece of writing. It tells a whole story of love, deceit, corruption, irony, all in so few words. Very clever.

Great entry for the Very short story writing prompt contest. You captured my attention right away and held it all the way through. The twist at the end was funny. Poor widow. it's surprising in a good way.

Dear Mystery Writer,
Youch! I guess she told you, huh?! Some wives think like this - that it's all about the money. But there's a lot more to relationships than what you can GET out of them. *smile* I liked the ending. Thanks!

Alright now!
This one was a very good read with an unexpected ending. I want to say it was "witty" but mostly it was unexpected which makes for a very powerful ending. Good job and best of luck in the contest.

Mandy is a very smart woman. The wife doesn't sound like she was much fun. The lawyer would have a way to be sure she won in an uncontested will. This is a very neat story; may the best woman win.

There sure is a twist in this story. Evidently, the fellow has two women that were fighting over him. I wonder what the miser of a woman thought, when the other woman said she was his lawyer.
