I have no wish to insult your beliefs. "no one has seen god and lived." So..here goes, why do you bow down to graven idols like Vishnu? I love the Dalai Lama, read his books only to find out they don't believe in One God. The Taoists believe in hundreds of idols (with respect) I believe in Mary, mother of Jesus. No, not a catholic. That is a most interesting place to have so many twins. It is also surprising that the author, who lived there for twenty years, didn't know. Have you perhaps had twin sons? You might want to change this phrase: . . . women who married (and moved to) far away towns . . .

I lived in the capital city of the state. media was not as wide then as now. no mobile or internet.No information Highway!

Oh my, it is strange things are going around us, and we do not have a clue. And to be surrounded by people who are twins that look alike. It would be hard for me to separate them. Thank you for the awareness.

I had not heard of this place either but a lot more identical through out the years so it don't surprise me there is an island of them. twins are born every day

Particularly as there is a similar phenomenon in Igbo ora, Nigeria!
Lots of theories, but no scientific explanation!

Punctuation inside quotes is right .except when the quote is a part of a sentence.Idont pay much attention to that since it is not intended for publication
When I re read I check spelling and grammatical mistakes.
I think I must start taking punctuation seriously.
My husband says I have a 'this will do ' attitude for everything
