This is a great topic. The reader, if they are a writer, will be drawn in to reflect on why they write. Some may say for money, others for fame, but the main reason is because there is an obsession for release and joy.

Congratulations on your milestone post. It really is a fine one that I enjoyed very much. The "what are you writing?" answer made me laugh out loud (a rare occurrence).

You have supplied answers for any who enter this contest or those who read this piece. I like this phrase: Is writing merely psychotherapy? I know it is, for it is one place I can speak my mind and not be contradicted immediately. In the final overview, may I never forget, I write for ME.

I joined Twitter for that very reason. There I can mouth off as much as I want.

Congratulations on your 50th posting. In this essay your exhibit good writing skills to engage the reader (and also good editing to keep it to under 500 words!). Including questions is a great way to keep a connection with the reader and I totally agree with your final summation that you write because it is first and foremost fun.

    Thank you.
How do you know it's my 50th in a blind contest?
reply by LisaMay on 15-Mar-2022
Because a notation came up when I chose to review it. I don't know who you are though.
reply by the author on 15-Mar-2022
    Interesting. I haven't seen notations.
    Thanks

I just reviewed a piece and looked all over. Didn't see it. Maybe it's just then early landmarks 50, 100, etc
reply by LisaMay on 15-Mar-2022
That's probably right. I've only seen it on a couple of pieces I've reviewed in the past couple of days.

What wonderful insight. What might be and what might not be your reasons to write. Either way my friend, (you have) ... (IT). I enjoyed this and chuckled at your ending. Wonderful write. Wonderful read.

You have written many things to think about. I enjoyed reading your post. I hope you win the contest. I like the picture of the tree with a ladder. One, a person can climb as high as they want. We have the choice to hold the story inside our minds, or share. Writing releases feelings which can make you feel less tension or guilt. Thank you for the insight.
