I enjoyed this. Of course, the title drew me in, and I liked the line about how editing reduces waffling. I think I tend to waffle more when I speak than when I write!

Hey nice work on this! This was the most ambitious attempt in the contest measured in sheer length. I think the misordered text in the final line can be written off as artistic license as you obviously did it purposefully to improve flow, and it would work without the reordering. Thank you very much for participating and congratulations on your win. We'll have to host another contest like this one in the future.

Thanks for initiating the contest and for your comments, although I'm not sure what you mean by my disordered final sentence.

The entry was challenging to get right with the sequence of letters... an intriguing brain buzz.

I thought the CEC committee was supposed to check entries for eligibility and clearly the entry called Puppy didn't follow the rules of letter sequence for the 2-D acrostic.

You are right; puppy should have been disqualified but this was not a CEC moderated contest so it was not actually possible to disqualify anyone. I really wish they would change how the site works to allow the contest creator to disqualify entries, though I suppose there are some contest creators who would take advantage of that to unfairly disqualify their competitors. Since I could not disqualify it, I gave it and another contest entry a two star review, offering both the opportunity to revise their entries and receive a revised review. One of the entries withdrew but puppy did not.

In your last line, the order of letters should have been:
    r.. w.. r.. i.. t.. e..

    But yours goes:
    r.. i.. t.. e.. r.. w..

It's a pretty easy fix for you since your last line words are in doubles.

aah I see. Yes, the rules should be changed to allow for disqualifications. It it was abused by contest initiators there should be repercussions.
I see now where I went wrong with my letter sequence - I counted off from the first R instead of the last R.

An easy mistake to make - - and many probably didn't even realize it. I don't think it in any way affected your win

I like your poem. It contains several words that we like to hear as a writer. Respect, trust, imagination, entertained, talent, triumph, rich, and many of us do waffling sometimes, too.

Excellent entry for the 2D Acrostic Challenge writing prompt contest. The rules are complicated but you followed them well.

I like your presentation.

It's interesting to compare British English to American English.

Well done. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for reviewing - I appreciate your comments. It took me a while to work out what the rules actually were.
One of the entries hasn't followed the rules at all and is simply an acrostic, so I don't know why that wasn't checked by the CEC committee and not accepted for voting. Some people who vote never read the contest requirements.

What a great definition of a Writer and this contains very helpful suggestions and habits for a good writer to adopt! I'm not sure what a 2D acrostic is but I hope you do well in the contest!

Thank you so much. I wasn't sure what a 2-D acrostic was, so I contacted the contest initiator but got no reply. On studying the examples I deduced it to mean that each word of the line making up the poem had to begin with the title letters in sequence.
    Therefore, for WRITER
the words following each letter would begin with
    W R I T E R
    R I T E R W
    I T E R W R
    T E R W R I
    E R W R I T
    R I T E R W

I see that one contest entry, Puppy, is just an acrostic and doesn't follow the instructions as they are written. It seems to happen quite often that entries sometimes remain in for voting when they shouldn't be eligible. I've seen that happen in supernatural contests also. I wonder what the process is for checking by that mysterious CEC committee?

Oh my! That would make the contest so much more difficult. I am even more impressed with your poem and hope you win. You have my vote!

Well done, and meaningful. Good advice and message, and you met the constraints, which I imagine was no easy task. I send you my best wishes for your entry in the contest.

Thank you for sharing. It is a challenge to stop writing when you want to write. It is an addiction in diction that could be lost if not tried or tested. Clear points through your words. Cheers!

Playing with words is what writers do and I love putting together a collection of words to amuse and ruffle a few feathers, a fine acrostic with some wise advice within, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

I'd never ever heard of this type of poem before I saw the contest listed. I thought I'd challenge myself and give it a go. I hope I've done it right.
