Helen is definitely a well-rounded reader, reviewer, and writer. How intriguing to find she favored Dostoevsky. But the Bible is a big-time influence/source as well. This sounded like a real interview. Very believable.

I thought this was a terrific insight into the creative mind and processes of one of the strongest writers on the site. She has been one of my favorite writers here for a while. I love her style, that surrealist bent that is such a part of the Russian tradition. Interesting to find that she read Dostoevsky, and Mandelstam. Dostoevsky is one of my favorites; The Brothers Karamazov is one of my favorite all time novels. The site wouldn't be the same without her style and personality. But I also liked the professionalism with which you conducted this. This sounded very much like a professional news paper interview. Very well constructed, excellent questions asked to reveal the person underneath all those posts. estory
