This reminded me of the years I donated platelets. I am CMV negative. Only 20% of the world's population is CMV negative. It kept those of us who are very busy. I was proud to donate, to help people undergoing chemo, burn victims, premature babies, and so on. If you don't know about CMV negative, I'll be happy to explain.

Such an informative chapter. It must bring back a lot of awful memories for you? You did well through here and there are no spags. I am looking forward to the next chapter.

I admire your courage for writing about your own experience of Chemo. It does sound like you know about it. I was going to ask you whether you were a nurse. It turns out you were a patient. Good for you and you have survived it. My mother had cancer and she had Chemo and radiation therapy. I know how hard it was from what she told me.

Exceptionally done.

What an exceptional chapter both as a storyline and as informational for those facing cancer. My mom was in remission twice and the third time was the worst. Thank you for sharing Barbara.

Smiles, Carol

Hi Barbara, that was a very emotional chapter, which shows how much Gabriel cares for Katherine. I can understand how frightened she must be. You showed that very well, as well. Thanks also for sharing your personal experience with us. Hugs. Ulla:)))

You have really written this infusion process well. I've learned a lot about what my family members have gone through. Thank you.

He kissed her cheek. "Thank you for saying it." He glanced inside the house. "I guess I'll see if [she'd] ready." [she's] ready."

Chemo sounds like a lot to go through. My sister-in-law lost her sister to breast cancer, and she went through it all. It still didn't stop the cancer from spreading. You are fortunate to come through it. You did an excellent job of describing Katherine's feelings as she's about ready to undergo the procedure. She is fortunate to have such support in her family. It was wise that she stayed up to reassure the boys. judi

You're welcome. It's going to take time, but I know you'll see that Katherine makes it through. judi

I applaud your courage in detailing in print what must have been the most traumatic experience in your life up to that point. You did a wonderful job of describing the emotional tension of what that must have felt like. You actually put us your readers in the room. I not only felt what everyone was feeling, I could touch and feel what was actually going on. This is a great job of evocative writing.

That must have been a horrendous experience, thank goodness you had Brian. It was the other way round for me, my husband Brian had lung and liver cancer and died. That was nearly 40 years ago now, I think they can do more these days.
Katherine has a whole army of supporters, which will help her get through the next few weeks. Losing her hair will be a hard one to cope with, but it's not the worst, and it will grow back. You are writing this perfectly, Barbara, the emotions are just as I expect them to be. Well done! :)) Sandra xx

Thank you for the kind review. I have to share, one day I was having a pity party over my hair loss. My youngest son, Steven put it in perspecitive. He said, "Mom, I'd rather have you bald than dead.:"
reply by Sandra Stoner-Mitchell on 06-Mar-2022
My word, what a wise young man he was! Bald and alive, there are wigs, scarves, whatever, but dead? That's it. And we wouldn't have all your books to enjoy!!!! xxx

I still think this is my favorite of your stories that I've read. It is so down to earth and true to life. I went with my husband for cancer treatment. He had radiation and a pill for the chemo and he didn't lose his hair but my mom did when she had chemo treatments. My husband had Colon cancer. Mom had thyroid cancer but Mom stopped treatments after four and recovered and it didn't come back. The fear and emotions sounds very real. You are writing from your own experience.
