The sunflower is such a perky flower, holding its head up... it is a good symbol for how the oppressed Ukrainians must face the Russian onslaught.

Thank you very much for reviewing, and yes, I agree. A fine choice of strong flower for an emblem.
It's also my older daughter's favourite flower, and coincidentally I have some sunflower seeds to plant very soon, dwarf ones for pots. They need to feel supported in whatever we can from bullies.

This is an excellent 2-4-2 poem for the contest
with a current theme that fanstorians

I didn't know that and the sunflower seeks the sun and Ukraine could do with a little sunshine just now. The world is afraid to get involved in this conflict for fear of all out war. The US has a weak president just now so Putin has seized the opportunity to invade, a poignant write, love Dolly x

This is a great little poem that speaks out in protest of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. It's like a light in the darkness. I did not know that about the sunflower; thank you for putting that little bit of info at the bottom. Also, that dash reminds me of a lot of other poets who have used dashes, such as Emily Dickinson. I feel like it kind of takes the place of what you didn't say. Very clever. This will make an exceptional entry for the contest!
