I've never been a fan of turkey, and now, I am definitely NOT a fan, and probably won't eat it again!! Lol. This is such a lovely story bringing me back some wonderful memories of my own where we had all the kids sleeping on the lounge floor. Your story is sweet in another way as well, with your aunt determined to give you a Thanksgiving dinner. I can understand your father not wanting to have it, just losing your mother. I'm so sorry you lost her at such a young age. I really enjoyed your story, and wish you the best of luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Cute. In those days wasn't six children a small number? We had five gurls who had one male sibling. I leave it to you to guess who. .........................................

I can guess who! tough . My brother was the only male with 3 girls.
At the dinner, there were 10 children including my family's four.
Thank you for the review. It is very appreciated.

A fun read although I don't see the purpose of your opening paragraph. I could visualize that small room and the children squeezed into it for nighttime. Love the description of trips to the bathroom. The discovery of worms in the turkey's cavity shocked me. I assume they were burned alive.
Most kids hate vegetables, but the idea of pie for dessert was a good incentive to eat.

The opening mostly that this was not a pajama party which usually involves sleeping on the floor, pajamas and pillows.

Yuck, that would have been totally disgusting finding worms in the turkey. You did a great job, and I didn't see any errors. Enjoy your evening. Shirley

You have written another delightful family story with a detailed description of sleeping in an over crowed New York apartment just before Thanksgiving. I guess the turkey didn't have adequate cooling during its seven hour trip. I remember Franco American Spaghetti; My mother would open one can for three girls for lunch. Yum. Best wishes in the contest.

    I truly appreciate it.
To me, Franco American Spaghetti was great "Italian" food.

Oh now, how did it have worms, was it not put in the fridge? what a shame, but this does sound like a lot of fun, large groups usually are, especially on the holidays.

Thank you Joanne for your review. It is appreciated. My guess is that the turkey was not refrigerated on the long trip from Upstate New York to Massachusetts.

This sounds like a delightful get-together with so many family members that the children had to sleep on the floor in the living room. The author tells a fun as well as a true story about a time when after the mother had died, Aunt Tangie organized a Thanksgiving sleepover for the children of the deceased mother. They had never had a sleepover before so even though the turkey had worms inside they settled for vegetables knowing that afterward there would be fresh apple pie for dessert. A good time was had by all!
Thank you for sharing this true story.
Jesse

A very interesting story. I love the artwork you included of the worm . It kind of reminded me when I used to visit my grandmother. She lived in a small apartment. Very well done
With regards

Thank you for sharing this story. How disappointing after smelling that turkey cooking, that it had to be thrown away. But it was nice for family to be together, and I am glad you enjoyed your spaghetti sandwich.
