Thank you Dolly for your kind wise words. It is difficult for people to not be distracted and focus on what is important. It is a damn shame.

I enjoyed reading your poem. The topic is relatable and extremely relevant. Your writing seems seasoned and honest. I think you were very creative with the prompt. I am curious at the photo you looked at that inspired your words.

Thank you for your feedback. The photo just exists in my mind, it was lost a long time ago.

I can but imagine the photograph stirring layers of memories about...roiling the ancient waters of war yet again...
Especially of import as breaking news brings us "disturbing content" of a family of four extinguished in a heartbeat.
I grew up in the Vietnam era... we never learn.
I have yoo many photos of friends who exist only as names carved on "The Wall."
Write loud and proud...
We need the voice of reason!

The idea of war troubles me and with what is happening now, it just takes a misunderstanding, misdirection or deception that would lead us to something terrible. Imagine through all our evolution, we are still unable to embrace who we all are, children of the world, no matter what age. Have a good week!

Agreed! I've often thought we could only come together as a human race...if invaded by aliens. How foolish our embattled borders would be then!
-
Border to remain to create disdain so that we remain always away from ourselves and others to stay in the midst of the broken road to understanding
-
When will we learn the emperor has no clothes!

This was good. A lot of thoughtful imagery for the times we live in. It feels a little choppy but I'm guessing that's the point. It almost feels stream-of-consciousness at times. Like a built up pressure inside spilling forth. Gives a powerful urgency to the writing.

Thank you for your feedback and yes, it is meant to be choppy, thank you for seeing that. You are also right about the powerful urgency to write it out. I felt it very powerful urging me to express the words. Have a good day!

The words in this poem are really some things to think about. I like that it gets a little deep about what happens to the world after conflict. It's sad because a lot of this is what we do. Some, maybe, not on purpose but old habits are hard to break. I like that the poet gave a glimpse of what happens to the world after conflict.

Just think what a world this would be if we would all learn to love one another and get along. The world is so full of hate and hateful people it makes one wonder what will become of this planet. Nice work. Look how you sent me off on a rant. LOL

Yes, it's easy to lose ourselves in "our agendas and pursuits." It's easy to forget history and the past depravity. I like your call to "Let the memories be real," so we can remember and change to avoid the same mistakes that led to war because of " hothead rulers."
You briefly mention the photograph and I wish to know a bit more about it since that is the focus of the contest. Perhaps you could use it as a refrain and "show" us the photo in several places of the poem. Best wishes in the contest!
Suggestion:
Where [we] forget ourselves, (English really requires the subject more than other languages to clarify.)

Thank you for your feedback. I will look at it again. It was a photograph of my years in the army which I do not talk about too much. I am still learning to express myself better, thank you for the suggestions, will review again.

It's always your work so feel free to change only if you want to. These were simply my impressions.

I know, lyenochka. The impressions are appreciated. :)

There is so much truth in your poem. War has begun and we pray that prayer will stop the invasion into Ukraine. The destruction is really getting worse.... we keep praying.

This poem of memories is very good. I am glad we have pictures to remind us of these things that we otherwise may have tossed aside. Keep up the good work.

Very well written sobering poem. In light of what's going on in the world today, this poem reflects that. The poem flows well, and asked some meaningful question. The last stanza of the poem sums it all up well. Very nice.
