Congratulations on your win. This is such a sweet poem. And I know that exact feeling of paw prints on my heart.
My only suggestion (now that the contest is over!) is to take a look at some of the commas. You have some comma splices (where they don't need to be) but other than that, GREAT JOB. :)

If you're interested, I have a children's anthology taking submissions. This might be super cute in there. Check my portfolio for details or reach out to my inbox.
Thanks and congratulations again.
Blessings,
Deb

Congratulations on winning this contest. It is a lovely poem, great rhyming and tells a sad but sweet story. I never had a dog as a pet, but I can understand the memories you have.

This is a poignantly sad poem about the death of a pet from the pet's point of veiw. It shows the love and loyalty of a pet.
Congrats on winning the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy

Congrats on the win! Everyone who has ever had a pet was reaching for tissues!

My daughter just lost her fog to cancer after a long, beautiful, 15 years together...

We all wept!

Love this...

Oh, this was very touching, I wish I had a a six left. Yes, animals can really leave imprints on our hearts and mind, they wrap up around their little paws (smile).

Powerful imagery and visuals, and I love the presentation.

I saw "contest winner" for the rhyming poem contest - my sincere congratulations, well deserved.

Much enjoyed this, thank you for sharing.

Congratulations on the win. This does tug on the heart strings. It's been awhile since we have had a pet but I remember them well.

Well done

This rhyming poem tugs at the heartstrings.

It highlights the joy that is felt sharing time with a beloved pet, as well as the impact of loss when the shared time comes to an end

Well done and nicely presented.

Wonderful poem, and a perfect illustration. Losing a pet is losing a family member. Telling the tale from the pet's perspective adds poignancy to this poem. Thank you for sharing.

It is easy to figure out why this is the contest winner. It tugs at the heart. Last summer I adopted a stray cat...rather, she first adopted me. It is amazing how close we get to our pets. After they are gone, they really do leave paw prints on our hearts.
