You are very kind, thank you very much!

He sounded quite a character, one that was well liked for all he did to get people off the booze and sober. No easy task, but from the amount of those people who came to his funeral, he was very successful at it. I enjoyed reading about him, and wish you much good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

I wonder what Charlie 's answer would have been to the question you never got to ask. He sounds like he fit plenty of living in his years. To have so many at his funeral he had given and received love and friendship, a good life I think. Great story, good luck in the contest.

Charlie sounds like an interesting character. What a life he had! And he did something important. I'm sure those AA chapters he set up saved a lot of lives, and marriages. Good luck in the contest,

This is a great story about a person who made a difference. Even if his real name wasn't Charlie, he sounds like a person I'd like to know. So many people never achieve even the turnaround of AA. You told the story with great respect and heart.

You see? There is symmetrical purity in this account. If you know that you are not a person who habitually works out, you do not want to start at a late point in your life. I was extremely thin for the first part of my life. The second half of my life I was heavy. I never worked out thin or heavy, so it would be foolish of me at the age of 78 almost 79 to do something as foolish as starting to work out. You must stick to the person you really are and do not switch horses in the middle of a race.

Excellent account of Charlie, a man of determination and integrity who turned his life around. And turned around the lives of people in his neighborhood and around the world..
I like your writing style. It's confident and laid back.
Good luck in the prompt.
Hope this story attracts a lot of votes.
Stay safe and blessed

I see no disrespect. You did a great job with the contest prompt. I enjoyed reading your story about Charlie. He seemed to be a man who did what he wanted regardless of what others thought. The AA sponsorships were great as they helped him along the way. His funeral sounded like a great send off.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

It's a good story. I like that you included a picture of him -- or, at least I assume that's him...
There are some technical mistakes. Punctuation, a misspelled word (blond, then blonde the next time you use it -- so not technically misspelled, but "blond" is usually used to refer to a male, and "blonde" is usually used to refer to a female).
Overall, it's good. Good luck in the contest!
