The association of the chair with the grandfather is sufficient justification for keeping it, as memories and the stories behind the memories are both necessary and enjoyable. Well written. Best wishes for your entry.

This one-hundred-word flash fiction story, The Chair, has the proper word count and creates a warm and lasting memento to keep Dad in the family's lives.

A wonderful story memorialising a person no longer here but also not gone from the lives and heart of his family. The chair is a perfect symbol of that--still useful, still loved,

What a lovely story. I like how the wife dealt with the death as if he was still alive. How nice to think that Grampa might drop in and the kids could talk to Grampa. He probably is watching over them and maybe he does visit. Good job! Good luck with the contest.

I have my father's rocking chair for the very same reason. Pieces of him tiptop with me each time I walk by it, in the den. My sensory memory takes me back to the nights he would sit there quietly pondering, puffing on his pipe. Cherry pipe tobacco. The smell of love. Tears are brimming...and a smile.

I really enjoyed your poem. Telling a complete story using 100 words is tricky but you did a good job doing just that. Your words painted such a clear picture that I can almost smell the leather. Good luck in the contest.

Beautifully done in just 100 words! And you connect the chair with how it reminds the narrator of his father's face and keeping it in the family keeps his presence near. Hope you do well in the contest!

I so agree with you. Chairs do tell a story about the person who used or sat in the chair. I have many treasured items where I have purchased items at an auction, too. The items are part of a life.

Well written. I love it!
the chair, reminded me - comma not needed
The kids did love it and every - here's where you could put the comma, between 'it' and 'and'
Best wishes and good luck.

I love this flash fiction. I like the fact it sounds so real. Things of our loved ones can keep them close. You did an excellent job with errors. Have a blessed evening. Shirley
