I agree totally with the ideas presented in your poem, and I'm glad we are not responsible for others' unforgiveness, once we asked to be forgiven. I love your last two lines.

Thank you, Verna, very much. It's hard to keep a spirit of forgiveness for those who are now deliberately choosing to hurt, but by God's grace we can.

This is perfect. I like, so now I forgive them For not forgiving me. This should help all of us. I want to thank you for giving me something to think about. This poem is a learning tool. Good luck and stay safe.

I love the illustration you chose - we need to break chains that bind us through not forgiving and be free.
Your words are powerful and personal. It seems you have done everything you can... the last stanza is very telling about others' capacity to forgive when a genuine attempt has been made when we have asked them for forgiveness for any hurt.

Your poem about forgiveness--and the refusal to grant it--is very thoughtful and moving. If we are sincerely sorry and say so, the ball in then in the other person's court. The end is especially GREAT.

Thank you so much. In one way we must move on, knowing we can do no more. Yet we need to constantly watch that we are not harbouring a sense of injustice, and be ready to forgive their hurtful power play.

This is a good poem and I like it because the poet talks about forgiveness and also throws in not forgiving. This is a topic that a lot of people wrestle with because we don't want to forgive our fellow man.
Why is forgiveness so hard to do? It's not hard but people just do not want to do it.
But, another important point that I like that the poet makes is to pray if someone refuses to forgive or forget.

A very touching poem about forgiveness. Saying prayers every night before bedtime and asking for forgiveness, even if we've had a good day helps. God hears us and he answers saying that we are not always to blame. But too stay humble.

Let it go. You did what you could. Now it is whomever's move. Don't let it be an anchor weighing you down. Find someone to share the love you readily want to share. Good luck

Both giving and asking for forgiveness can be so difficult. It helps me to remember that Christ covers all of it: pain caused by others and the pain we cause as well, whether by initial offense or a refusal to forgive. In time Christ will heal it all. Thanks for sharing this poem; it's quite lovely. Good job!

I loved your poem It began with a familiar prayer but I loved the tone and the rhyming words. I find a strain of subtle humour through the poem and that is what I find most appealing
