This is a sweet story, and I understand Jasmine's feelings completely. I had stuffed animals when I was a child I'd have been devastated to lose and, in fact, I still have a stuffed lion I'd search for if he were missing. Thank you for showing a family story where the parents understand their children and take their feelings seriously. In too many stories, the parents are either foolish or unintentionally clueless. I also like your "role reversal," where the mom runs the errand while the dad stays with the child and does the cooking. Your story sends some very positive messages.

I can still remember the names of the first stuffed animals I ever had. Not having been the most inventive toddler, I named my first Easter bunny "Easter." My favorite stuffed animal was a little kitten I named "Pella." My parents had friends who had a daughter named Marlene. She was a teenager when I was tiny, and she was nice to me so, of course, I adored her. I named a little girl doll after her. Unfortunately, I knew no cat names whatsoever. However, Marlene had a cat named Pella. My brilliant reasoning was, if Marlene named her cat "Pella," "Pella" must be a cat name. Since it was the only cat name I knew, I named my little kitten doll "Pella."

What a wonderful story about a child who lost her teddy and the mom went searching and found him sitting by a clerk's cash register. We never know how precious some things are until they are gone. Sometimes money is never a replacement. It is the sentimental value that counts.

It has been that way all through life, Jenny. "We don't know what we've got til it's gone." We take for granted those dear and loving smiles. We assume that tinkling in the eyes will always be there. Then, on a cold day, the smiles fade and the eyes don't see. This is a good offering for the Love, Love, Love Contest. Thank you for sharing.

All's well that ends well. I did wonder how many times a kid has lost a beloved teddy bear or doll to point of heartbreak. Countless no doubt. Then I wondered how times a parent was able to find it. Probably not so much. This was a good mom and it all worked out. Good job.

This story had so many thoughtful moments telling us to not take everything for granted or to think we always have time when often we don't. The parents showed understand and lots of love was passed around.
