A beautiful poem highlighting the joy of friendship based not on similarities - but shared despite differences. It teaches children to open their hearts and be accepting. Something we all need right now. Well done!

This is lovely! Whether a children's story or not this has a message that all of us can learn from. A lonely giraffe and a lonely elephant met each other through a bird who happened to be flying by and they remained friends forever. This is the best children's story I have read in a long time! The picture of the two intertwined was wonderfully appropriate for this story. Kudos for writing such a lovely and topical piece!
Have a terrific week,
Jesse

This is such a sweet poem that sends a message it's ok to be different. And be kind to everyone. Though Ellie and Gerry might not be the same their friendship would always forever remain. Nicely done.

A cute poem about a lasting friendship. True friendships are hallmarked by each member's desire to involve one another. And it's about mutual interest in one another's experiences and thoughts.

Wow! What an awesome tale! I enjoyed the lyrical voice and the flow of the story. More important is the theme of friendship between two different animals. This reminds me of my own friendship with my best friend who's quite unlike me in height, complexion, aptitude etc and yet we flow into each other as one big river. A wonderful read, thank you.

Nice children's poem. Well written.
"and had an idea,/and fill them with cheer." - only works with the British idea(r)
Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes.

Thank you, Wayne! Yes, we say our 'idea' with 3 syllables, and it sounds as if we have an 'r' on the end. How do you pronounce it? I keep meaning to ask someone, then forget. That's for the lovely review, and the good luck wishes. :)

This is a very good poem about friendship and about diversity, and for those reasons, a great message for children. I enjoyed it very much. Also a beautiful accompanying image.

I loved this! It just goes to show, you don't need to be the same to be best pals - opposites often attract when it comes to friendship. Good luck in the competition, I'm sure you have a winner here!

This is a delightful story for children (of all ages) that contains a good message. An entire book of illustrations like then here and the rhythmic lines would keep a child happily interested.

This is great. Fun, whimsical, and flows with a steady cadence. I love the picture, it adds to the poem and it a nice visual reference as the story unfolds. Great job and I hope you do well in the contest.
