I like this poem- and feel the East wind melting the ice from the branches- ending the life cycle- causing the blossoms to fall in the wind - as in the picture- (fall or blush) good artwork- nicely done

The picture was beautiful, Gypsy, it showed plum blossoms amid the snow covered branches. I totally enjoyed your words because they meant that spring was on it's way. Blessed be n hugs.

Nice Spring Haiku Gypsy!

Of course, I like alliterations in your verse. You selected excellent illustrations to pair with your words. The total presentation is perfect.

Hi Gypsy, this reminds of when I had
my roses...at the end of winter...when
the snow would melt off...you could see the
blossoms on the branches coming out...

I love your poem my sweet friend...and love this
beautiful picture...very nicely written sweet girl...
love you...Linda xxoo

Nicely done haiku! I don't know about the East Wind but I would have thought a southern wind might bring enough warmth to melt the ice. I guess it depends on where you live. The blushing blossoms refer to the color as well as adds some humor through personification!

Thank you very much for your review and feedback, Helen. May you have a wonderful day.

The season word I use comes straight from the Japanese detailed kigo list. The seasons are a little different between Japan and America.

The Kigo (season words) I used comes from a detailed Japanese kigo almanac

    Beginning of Spring:
(February 4 to 8 "East wind melts the ice")
February 9 to 13 Bush warblers start singing in the mountains
February 14 to 18 Fish emerge from the ice
    Rainwater:
February 19 to 23 Rain moistens the soil
February 24 to 28 Mist starts to linger
March 1 to 5 Grass sprouts, trees bud
    Insects awaken:
March 6 to 10 Hibernating insects surface
March 11 to 15 First peach blossoms
March 16 to 20 Caterpillars become butterflies
    Spring Equinox:
Etc etc etc.... The whole year.

Ah, maybe that part of the world it's the East Wind! My uncle's name was East. 😊 Goodnight! 💖

What a great haiku, not only have you put a human concept into this work, but you've also applied some clever and relevant poetic device, the alliteration ofbthe last line puts a satori oomph to it, well done, blessings Roy
