Making Marcus Pay

You can only take so much from a bully.

I didn't see that ending. You did a great job with the resolution of what could've been a disaster. Congratulations on your win. I know you are right about the secrets bullies carry. I like the way this one was resolved.
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you so much for your kind words and generous rating. The favorable review meant more to me than the win.

This story, Making Marcus Pay, takes the positive tone of the victim taking the high road and trying to make a friend out of an enemy. Nice thought.

Liked your story. It really is disgusting when parents are so mean and destructive. Alcohol causes many problems, and they seem to like to always have the upper hand. Very abusive father in this story, who needs help.

Wish I had a six for this. Bullying is a sore spot with me. It has harmed so many kids that have no defense against it. It is hard to stand up to someone big and strong when there is a lack of self-confidence. Schools have a policy against bullying, but it does not always get reported. Thank you for sharing this posting. Best wishes!

That's a lovely outcome in a well-written story. It's sad the amount of abuse kids receive at home. My daughter teaches at a inner-city school and sees so much of this. Thanks for sharing.

Reading your story makes me realize many things. The bully was a bully because there was a reason because they carried the weight of secrets that are far worse than they are willing to share with the world. The beautiful story of sweet revenge. Thanks for sharing and wish you the very best in the contest, Kit.

Short and sweet with plenty of meat. Well done, pastor. Having been bullied myself, collectively, back in the day before a I grew to be 6'6 200 pounds, I felt retarded from mental growth. It's a poor experience for a lad so small as a freshman at 5'9 and a buck twenty-five.

This is an excellent and touching story. I wonder if a lot of kids have learned to be bullies because they own parent at home has bullied them and by being a bully at school they get back the sense of power they lose at home.

Great story ... and I wished it would continue so I would know the outcome from Billy's small act of kindness - which was really a big act of kindness, showing Christian grace, forgiveness and love. Best wishes for your entry.

I sure hope Billy's strategy worked, and that Marcus was able to overcome his barrier of toughness to accept the offered friendship. Your story shows compassion and a willingness to forgive and build a bridge by Christian example..
