Here you are with another one of your gut-wrenching stories. This is an excellent story about a sad but common situation. How many girls face this crisis every year. I was almost one of the unfortunate girls when I got involved with the wrong man at a young and tender age. Sadly, I lost the baby and the world didn't know of my shame. Was that good or bad? I guess that depends on how one looks at it.

With egg on my face, I shamefully thank you for finding the time to read my post and to respond. I have taken two days of reading and answering posts and am still 50 away.

Smiles and hugs and greatly appreciated.

Well written. Told millions of times in millions of homes, no doubt.
I'm sure that at some point the girl learned that she was in charge of her want to's. But I told myself not to comment on anything but the writing - so much for that.
Great job making people 'feel' something... anything, and not even notice the writing.
Best wishes.

A very well written short story. I like the way you highlight the young girl's childlike mind. She does want to do many things, but always get's pushed or pulled into doing them. Even at the very end, her emotions once again came forward and pushed against her logic. A sad reality of life, that stays the same throughout the history of life.

Out of sixes...here's a basket of virtual ones! You are an excellent writer. Love the thread of "I don't want to do it" from the sexual encounter to releasing her child for adoption. Life is a series of choices. Sadly, young women are too often pressured to "go along" and then presented with few options. Society judges. God loves and guides. I will hold in my heart what I hope would happen in this scenario! It's a huge nod to you that I'll be pondering "Sable" for a long time to come!

I knew you would understand the emotions behind this story and how gut wrenching it is for these young girls. They aren't prepared but they still have those gnawing mother feelings too. What a basket of emotions!!!

I like the way that you put the constant refrain of "I don't want to do it" in Sable's mouth. And it's an appropriate name Sable - as it means sand in French. She has the will power and stance of sand. She didn't want to do any of it and now doesn't want to give up the baby for adoption. But what if she doesn't want to raise the child when the baby keeps waking her up or when the child gives her heartaches which is inevitable? I would have liked to see her change to "I do want to raise this baby."
Great job with your story!

This is a very well written, true to life story, Carol. I know many young women have had to face this situation, many I knew in high school. Most married the fathers, but I have no idea if they lasted. I couldn't imagine being in such a situation. That fear kept me out of trouble.

Your story is so well written, and brought tears to my eyes. Everyone of these decisions that this girl had to make were hard. If only teenagers could think about these things before they make that first decision, they could save themselves a lot of heartache.

So girls face this kind of situation without being ready to deal with it. The birth of new life changes the mother and suddenly they want that baby. It isn't easy to give one up but some don't have another choice. You have written this beautifully. The mom in this story was willing to help.

Yes, I agree not every girl is faced with choices instead of only one option. That's when being the writer comes in handy. LOL Thanks for the review, Beth. Appreciate it very much.

I don't know how one can give a child away, they are so, so precious. I can start to understand God wanting us desperately when I saw the the birth of a child, they are so helpless, so dependant, and yet adopted children are also wanted, that's why God adopts us, beautifully written Carol, excellent job, blessings Roy

Neither do I. I read this story of finding a baby in the trash and my stomach went crazy. I couldn't even begin to fathom what went through someone's mind to assure them something so horrible could be okay. Thanks for the review.

Right. I don't know how anyone can do it. It has to rip the heart right out of a person to give away a piece of themselves never to be seen again. I like how you carried that one statement throughout the entire story. "I don't want to do it." Boys should be taught if they make a baby they had best be ready to own it. LOL It took two to make it and two should pay the price. Well done. Nancy:)

I so agree with you but so many don't think that hold true, even the boys parents often say the girl should have known better. Really?!?!
I read a story about finding a baby in the trash and I couldn't stomach the thought. I appreciate the kind review.
