That's where the Blues started, right on the corners of Beale Street. It was thriving from the 1890s through the 1930s. What a wonderfully written poem.

You have a strong steady beat that is clear in your words. I love the last line "earning money for food". I have not read any poems about street performers and it is wonderful to read yours. Excellent use of words and poetic form.
