Charity,
Truth is often painful, very painful, but facing it gets easier little by little. You have shown great courage and grown stronger through all the hurt and difficulties you have faced and endured. I think your poetry is a good way of accepting and releasing some of that. Be kind to yourself and trust that you are loved and uplifted more than you know.

How awful to be living with the fear of death and wondering if you will be next. I have never felt this in my life so I think I must have found some peace. I expect in some parts of the world there are people who live with such fears, a poignant write, love Dolly x

Charity, I am so impressed with the creativity of this poem. You have used various metaphors and similes that create strong images in the reader's mind and you also have such original rhymes. I love how you've expressed the pains you are feeling and the illustration you chose is so appropriate too. I think the most astonishing and unforgettable simile is this one: " My heart chopped in pieces like broken bushes from a machete." That is so original, and quite memorable too. I hope you are doing well. ~ MM

Charity this is very disturbing poem. You are a poet and you've expressed yourself well. I believe it is never too late to start over. I believe God forgives everyone who asks. I believe miracles happen every day. I see you say you want to reach out to others who are fighting depression, anxiety, addition and pain. This is good sign, when you concentrate on the pain of others it takes away some of your own. I believe no one is above any other person. I believe it wrong to judge other. I believe if you make up your mind to turn things around, with God's help you will.

Your words are full of emotion that many can relate to. Your last line "I'm just trying to survive in the trenches like Daniel in the lion's den" is a vivid line that sums up the feel of your words. Survival is often a daily struggle like your poem describes.

A quick note first to say I enjoyed your poetry slam on Youtube - Karenina shared it with me this morning. You chime brilliantly with the music, and for my money, your lyrics are way better than a lot of the narrative rap I hear.

This piece is another strong addition. I love that you poetry is not about making excuses or placing blame - it's about acceptance, searching for strength, and and showing how one's place in the world is as much a state of mind as birth. You open strong with the confluence of chest pain, bullets and vests, and near-closing with the striking line about the chopped heart, bush and machete (bushes having significant religious connotations).

An excellent write.

Mike

Hi Charity,
once again you have hit the lines running with your style of gritty truth.

Your trademark lyrical sway delivers a hard-hitting reality of life in 'not the so easy box'.

I knew of such a box growing up, and I am paying the piper big-time for it now physically... mentally, it made me stronger once I accepted the lessons that life gave me.

I always enjoy reading your raw and unfiltered art Charity... the more you write, the more fluid it becomes.

Didn't know if you threw in the 'slang' in this line, or it was just a slight typo, but...
I know how it 'feels' to lose everything.

Nice presentation nice lyrical mind-bender... continue doing what you do Charity, wisdom is bred where knowledge is gained.

With our thoughts we create...
visionary expansion.

Kind regards,
James.

Graphic and passionately emotional. You have a way of tapping into your own psyche and extracting what truly scares you. I find that remarkably honest and courageous. Find your strength and keep writing.
